Sacramento Monarchs foward, Rebekkah Brunson, has been named the Western Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, June 4 through Sunday, June 10. This is Brunson's first time receiving the honor in her four-year career.

June 8 , 2007DeMya Undergoes Successful Surgery
DeMya Walker underwent successful surgery this morning to repair a torn patellar tendon in her right knee. Monarchs Team Doctor Kirk Lewis preformed the surgery. A complete recovery is expected.

June 6 , 2007DeMya Sidelined for Season
Monarchs forward DeMya Walker underwent a MRI today which confirmed a patellar tendon tear to her right knee. Walker injured her knee in the first quarter of the Monarchs home opener, Saturday versus the Sparks. The injury is expected to hold Walker out for the remainder of the season.

Laughter, smiles, loud yells and high fives dominated the afternoon at the Greater Sacramento YMCA this week, as the Sacramento Monarchs unveiled the brand new "Court of Dreams." The new court is a result of a contest won by the Sacramento area Rotary Clubs, Kiwanis Clubs and YMCA, after teaming up to win the official WNBA court for the YMCA by taking first place in last season's WNBA Court of Dreams ticket sales contest.

Maloof Sports and Entertainment recently welcomed a new member to the team, Jenny Boucek. She recently took over as head coach of the Monarchs, leading a team that has made it to the WNBA Finals in each of the last two seasons and won the Championship in 2005.

The Monarchs were styling in their new gear last night for a mob of Monarchs fans as they unveiled their new 2007 WNBA uniforms by adidas. Complete with a red carpet runway set up in front of the Monarchs Team Store at ARCO Arena, Kristin Haynie, Kara Lawson and Yolanda Griffith strutted out one-by-one to the cheers of adoring fans and the pop of photographers' flash bulbs.

In 2005, the Monarchs were the Cinderella story of the WNBA, as they defeated the Connecticut Sun three games to one and became the 2005 WNBA Champions. The Monarchs hard work, determination, team chemistry and renowned "white line" defense made history in the city of Sacramento, as they became first basketball team to bring home a professional title. However, as the 2006 season began, all of that meant nothing.
