MONARCHS FORWARD DEMYA WALKER UNDERGOES SUCCESSFUL SURGERY

SACRAMENTO, CALIF., June 8, 2007 – The Sacramento Monarchs today announced that forward, DeMya Walker underwent successful surgery this morning to repair a torn patellar tendon in her right knee. Monarchs Team Doctor Kirk Lewis performed the surgery. A complete recovery is expected.

Walker, a 2005 All-Star selection and a starter for the Monarchs, initially injured her right knee while playing against the Los Angeles Sparks on June 2.

“We are relieved to know that Walker had a succesful surgery,” said Monarchs General Manager John Whisenant. “She is an incredible athlete and we look forward to her return to the Monarchs roster next season.”

In order to rehabilitate her knee, Walker has made a commitment to remain in Sacramento for the upcoming 2007-08 offseason. Team physicians will monitor her progress and once cleared, she will resume her training and conditioning for the 2008 WNBA season.

Season tickets and flexible ticket packages are on sale now. For more information, please visit the Monarchs Web site at SacramentoMonarchs.com.
