Creating impact during her off-season, Las Vegas Aces player A’ja Wilson reflects on her latest achievements in her tunnel style. Although her signature style elements—Louis Vuitton purses, 2000s-inspired styling, and jersey dresses—still remain, the legendary player provides a strong blueprint for how players can incorporate career evolutions into their outfits.

Collaborating with stylist Amadi Brooks for another season, Brooks explains that their vision for the 2024 season is intended as a “[follow up] from her Dear Black Girls tour,” so “you’ll see nods to a more sophisticated, preppy aesthetic.” Through more serious pieces like “tweed sets, pleated skirts, heels, and designer bags,” it offers an opportunity for Wilson to continue her momentum from new accomplishments, like her book release and recognition on the 2024 TIME100 List

“Depending on the time of season and where she is mentally can also drive how she wants to express herself through her wardrobe,” says Brooks. Instead of simply selecting outfits, the duo ensures that each look is tailored to Wilson’s current state of mind. With her Nike Signature Sneaker on the horizon, it’s fitting for Wilson to push into more businesswoman-inspired looks instead of last year’s relaxed streetwear looks.

Studying Wilson’s style from 2018, this player has consistently mixed both sporty and femme looks. “Versatility is always the key when it comes to styling A’ja,” adds Brooks. Scroll below to see Wilson’s style evolution in her seven years with the league.

2018: Bringing sorority-inspired style to the league, Wilson wears a pink outfit at the WNBA Draft 2018. Later that season, we see the beginning of her career-long passion for Louis Vuitton with a clutch at All-Star Weekend.

2019: Wilson flexes highly coveted sneakers like the Sean Wotherspoon Nike Air Max 97s in preppy, structured outfits. Throughout the season, she frequently rocks a pearl necklace.

2020: Although her pregame outfits are limited by the pandemic, Wilson starts to use t-shirts as a way to communicate messages around social issues

2021: Introducing her love of the 2000s and sports culture into her outfits, Wilson’s tunnel style features feminine styling around jerseys.

2022: Continuing her signature jersey dresses, Wilson taps into streetwear trends like matching sets and cargo pants.

2023: Securing her relationship with stylist Amadi Brooks, Wilson uses her tunnel outfits to elevate her signature pieces— statement t-shirts, sports jerseys and sets— with more mature styling.

2024: Following her nationwide book tour for “Dear Black Girls,” Wilson continues to bring a sharper, more polished look into the tunnel. Instead of wearing streetwear styles, Wilson and Brooks channel trending styles into material choices.
