WNBA Finals Game 3 Live Blog

Make no mistake about it: Game 3 of the WNBA Finals 2015 presented by Boost Mobile is easily the most anticipated game of the series thus far. The series is tied and both teams are looking to move within one win from taking home the WNBA title.

For Indiana, they’re looking to let out their “bottled up” frustrations from Game 2. Back at home in front of what is sure to be a raucous crowd, the Fever will look to use the energy and passion of their home fans to get an extra lift.

Minnesota may not speak too much about that 2012 series, but a win tonight would certainly work to squash those conversations. A win Friday night in Game 3 — a game they lost in the 2012 WNBA Finals in Indianapolis — would set them up nicely to bring home a third championship.

One thing is for sure. We’re in for a treat. Sit back, tune in to ESPN 2 at 8 p.m. ET and enjoy Game 3 of the WNBA Finals.

Maya Moore Drains Game-Winning Bucket, Lynx Take Game 3 80=77

When it matters most, Maya Moore steps up. Moore scored five quick points to start the fourth quarter and the fourth quarter was tight throughout. The Fever took a three-point lead late in the quarter, but Renee Montgomery hit a huge three to tie the game at 77.

After the Fever squandered a possession, Minnesota got the ball with 1.7 seconds left on the clock. Moore caught the inbounds pass, used a head-and-shoulder fake to free herself from Marissa Coleman and nailed a game-winning three. Check it out below.

Now, the Fever will once again play with their backs against the wall, down a game in the WNBA Finals. The Lynx, however, will try to win a third WNBA title on Sunday night.

Lynx Lead 59-57 Heading Into Fourth Quarter

Maya Moore’s fourth foul came early in the third quarter, and her Lynx teammates were forced to play without their leader for much of the quarter. But they didn’t miss much of a beat.

Minnesota moved in front of Indiana behind a well-balanced quarter from Fowles, Anna Cruz, Renee Montgomery and Devereaux Peters.

Shenise Johnson leads all scorers with 14 points, followed by Briann January with 13.

Maya Moore has 12 points and Sylvia Fowles has 11 points and nine rebounds.

A 2-1 series lead is on the line, so get ready for an exciting finish in Indianapolis.

Fever Take 42-38 Lead Into Halftime

Maya Moore picked up a third foul and sat for much of the second quarter, opening the door for a Fever run. And they took advantage of that period, using a 16-6 run while Moore was on the bench to regain the lead and momentum.

Fever guard Shenise Johnson was huge during the second quarter and leads all scorers with 14 points at halftime.

Sylvia Fowles continues to cause problems for Indiana in the post. She scored 8 first half points and tallied 8 rebounds, too.

Lynx Hold 20-19 Lead After One Quarter

Bankers Life Fieldhouse is packed to the brim with fans — including a strong contingent of Lynx fans behind the Minnesota bench. Both teams got off to hot starts in the first quarter.

The Fever and Briann January continued its hot shooting from beyond the arc, shooting 4-for-7 from downtown. Sylvia Fowles led the Lynx with 6 points, while Maya Moore dropped 5 points and pulled down five rebounds.

Briann January leads Indiana with six points. Tamika Catchings and Maya Moore both picked up two fouls in the first quarter, so that will be interesting to watch the rest of the way.

Tamika Catchings Makes History

Tamika Catchings made her 65th playoff game appearance Friday night — most in WNBA history.
