WNBA Finals Game 2 Live Blog

The stage is set for a pivotal Game 2 matchup in the WNBA Finals 2015 presented by Boost Mobile Tuesday evening. The Indiana Fever are looking to take a 2-0 series lead back to Indianapolis, while the Minnesota Lynx are looking to even the series at 1-1.

Both teams have discussed at length their mentalities ahead of the game. For Indiana, they’re approaching the game as if their backs are against the wall. Minnesota says it’s focused on cleaning up the little things — like turnovers and free throws — and getting back into a rhythm offensively.

Buckle up. These next few hours of playoff basketball should be a joy to watch.

Fowles, Moore Guide Lynx Past Indiana To Even Series

Maya Moore steps up when it matters most. Tuesday night was no different. When Sylvia Fowles left the game with five fouls, it was Maya Moore who helped dictate what the Lynx did offensively.

In the end, it proved to be enough. Moore scored 19 points, but it was her 5 assists, eight rebounds and defensive intensity that made the difference. When the defense ramped up, so did Moore. She got three huge steals in key moments to prevent Indiana from regaining momentum.

Renee Montgomery and Anna Cruz’s defense also proved crucial in the second half and helped completely change the tone of the game.

Now, the series shifts to Indiana, where the Fever will look to defend homecourt.

We’ll see you Friday night at 8 p.m. on ESPN 2!

Lynx Put Together Run, Take 63-59 Into Fourth Quarter

Tamika Catchings got going early in the third quarter, but a huge fifth foul sent her to the bench midway through the quarter. The Lynx capitalized, got the crowd back into it and moved ahead of Indiana.

Sylvia Fowles continued to have a massive game on her 30th birthday, moving to 21 points and eight rebounds. The tone of the quarter seemed to change with Renee Montgomery in the game. Her on-ball defense — combined with heightened defensive intensity across the board — forced Indiana into a number of mistakes.

Let’s see if the Lynx can hold on and even the series.

Fever Take 41-39 Lead Into Locker Room At The Half

The Lynx bounced back behind a well-rounded quarter from Maya Moore and Sylvia Fowles and had the lead with just seconds remaining in the half.

But Fever guard Maggie Lucas was fouled while shooting a 3-pointer with just under two seconds left to give the Fever the lead.

Tamika Catchings sat for much of the quarter after she picked up her third foul while setting a screen for Briann January. Fever head coach Stephanie White went to her bench and called upon Natasha Howard (6 points) and Maggie Lucas (4 points).

Fowles leads all scorers with 14 points and has a game-best seven rebounds.

Looks like we’re likely in for another grind-it-out second half.

Fever Lead 24-20 After One

Game 2 got off to a much faster start offensively than Game 1, and the Fever were paced by Marissa Coleman’s 8 first quarter points. Maya Moore attempted two shots in the first quarter but was held scoreless.

However, Sylvia Fowles — who is celebrating her 30th birthday today — was huge for Minnesota. She scored 10 points and pulled down four rebounds.

Tamika Catchings picked up two quick fouls.

Let’s see what the second quarter has to offer.
