College Highlights
For someone who didn't begin playing hoops - or high-jumping - until her second year of high school, Young has gone from seeing them as a hobby to participating in the 2012 Olympic track & field trials and being a WNBA prospect. 2012-13: Earned All-Region 5 honors from WBCA (along with draft prospects Brittney Griner, Angel Goodrich, and Brittany Chambers) and was a unanimous All Big 12 pick. By end of the Big 12 Tourney was the league-leader in rebounds and offensive boards per game; also ranked second in double-doubles, fourth in scoring. 2011-12: Capped a stellar effort during OSU's WNIT title run with tournament MVP honors. Also became just the second player in school history to record 1,000 career points, 700 rebounds and 100 blocks in career. 2010-11: All-Big 12 Second Team after being No. 1 in league in rebounds per game, second in double-doubles, 11th in scoring. MISC: In spring of 12, was an All-America high-jumper; second in the Big 12 Championship, fifth in NCAAs with an OSU-record of 6-01.50, and participated in Olympic Trials. Prep star won Oklahoma's girls hoops POY honors, a dunk contest vs. boys and three state high-jump titles. Following the death of OSU coaches Kurt Budke and Miranda Serna in a 2011 plane crash, made a promise to herself that she would work and do my best to be the player they saw in me."
