The 2026 WNBA season is a little over halfway done, but there are already clear leaders in every major award race. In fact, all six award markets have a minus-odds favorite at the BetMGM <a href="https://sports.betmgm.com/en/sports">online sportsbook</a>.
Las Vegas Aces forward A’ja Wilson is actually a minus-odds favorite in two different markets, as she looks to continue adding to her trophy case. Wilson is a -325 favorite to win a fifth MVP trophy, giving her an implied probability of 76.47%. She’s also -145 (59.18%) to claim a fourth Defensive Player of the Year award.
Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers has been Wilson’s primary challenger in the MVP race, trading at +700 to win the award in her second season. Atlanta Dream’s Rhyne Howard and Golden State Valkyries’ Gabby Williams are +650 and +900, respectively, in the latest DPOY odds.
Wilson is in a strong position for both races at this point in the season. She’s averaging 25.7 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists, two blocks, and 1.6 steals per game.

Despite Wilson’s dominance, she’s not the biggest favorite in the awards market. That title belongs to Minnesota Lynx guard Olivia Miles, who is -5000 in the updated <a href="https://sports.betmgm.com/en/blog/wnba/wnba-rookie-of-the-year-odds-prediction-bm23/">WNBA Rookie of the Year odds</a> race. That gives her an implied probability of 98.04%.
At BetMGM, bettors have been all over Miles in this market. She’s received 83.4% of the handle and 42.3% of the bets. She’s certainly delivered in her debut season, averaging 18.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per contest.
Minnesota is leading another race, too, with Cheryl Reeve trading as a -155 favorite in the Coach of the Year market. Reeve’s Lynx have the league’s best record despite being without Napheesa Collier and having replaced multiple rotation players from last year’s team.
Former Lynx forward Jessica Shepard has made the most of her new role with the Wings. She’s -210 to win Most Improved Player, translating to an implied probability of 67.74%. Shepard has filled up the stat sheet in Dallas, averaging 14.6 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per outing. Shepard has notched three triple-doubles this season.

Lastly, Golden State Valkyries forward Janelle Salaün has established herself as the early favorite in the Sixth Player of the Year race. Salaün’s -275 price tag suggests an implied probability of 73.33%.
Salaün has been a reliable reserve in her second season, averaging 12.9 points and four rebounds per game.

Golden State is on an absolute heater. After defeating the Tempo 83-75 on Wednesday, the Valkyries extended their winning streak to six games and continue to establish themselves as one of the league&#8217;s best defensive teams. They rank second in defensive rating (101.0) and first in opponent points per game (76.7). Gabby Williams has been a talented two-way force, averaging 15.0 PPG while adding 1.6 steals per game, while Veronica Burton continues to run the offense as the floor general, providing points, assists, and forcing turnovers.
The Sun have won three of their last five games, including an impressive victory over the championship-favorite Lynx, but they simply don&#8217;t have enough scoring firepower to consistently break through the Valkyries&#8217; suffocating defense.

Fudd hasn&#8217;t been the most consistent this season, but for a rookie, she&#8217;s shown flashes of offensive talent that should only improve with experience. Averaging 13.2 PPG, Fudd ranks among the top rookie scorers while shooting 47.1% from the field. She&#8217;s hit 15+ points in two of her last five games and now faces a Tempo team with plenty of offensive weapons but a defense that continues to struggle. Toronto allows the third-most points per game (91.3) and opponents are shooting 46.5% from the field against it (13th). 15+ points isn&#8217;t guaranteed, but I like the value and the offensive upside Fudd has shown.

New York has plenty of offensive talent with Breanna Stewart, Jonquel Jones, and Sabrina Ionescu leading the way, but the Liberty haven&#8217;t exactly been lighting up the scoreboard, averaging 87.8 points per game (7th). Now they face a Lynx team that is holding opponents to just 80.7 points per game, the best mark in the league.
Minnesota should also be without its leading scorer and rookie star Olivia Miles, leaving a significant chunk of offense on the bench. According to the DraftKings Sportsbook Stats Hub, seven of the Lynx&#8217;s last eight home games following a road win have gone under the total. It&#8217;s a niche stat, sure, but with one elite defense, a shorthanded Minnesota offense, and neither team playing at a blistering pace lately, I&#8217;m leaning toward the under.

Howard has been a consistent offensive anchor alongside Allisha Gray this season, despite the Dream&#8217;s recent struggles. After a five-game losing streak, Atlanta bounced back with a win over the Storm, with Howard finishing with 19 points and four rebounds. Shooting 42.9% from the field, the 26-year-old also knocked down four threes, extending her streak of 4+ made threes to four straight games. Plus, Howard has scored 19+ points in each of those contests. If she continues her high volume from beyond the arc, her ability to score at all three levels should carry her over 19 points tonight.

WNBA Best Bets, Predictions for July 10-11 on DraftKings Sportsbook

We are seven weeks into the 2026-27 WNBA season, and the top teams are beginning to separate themselves from the rest of the league. Friday&#8217;s slate of games features an elite matchup between the third-place Atlanta Dream and fifth-place Golden State Valkyries, while Saturday&#8217;s slate features Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever taking on the Los Angeles Sparks, who have had a rough start to the new campaign with an 8-9 record.
Below, I&#8217;ll go over the <a href="https://sportsbook.draftkings.com/leagues/basketball/wnba?category=game-lines&amp;subcategory=game">WNBA odds</a> for Friday and Saturday’s games and provide my best bets on DraftKings Sportsbook.

While Connecticut picked up its first win of the month on Monday against Chicago, it boasts a league-worst 3-15 record, ranking dead last in offensive rating and fourth-worst in defensive rating. Washington, on the other hand, has won four of its past six games, with wins over the Tempo, Liberty and Lynx. This Mystics squad can clearly hang with the league&#8217;s top teams, and it should have very few issues handling the league&#8217;s worst team.
The Mystics may not see as much rebounding success as they are used to, with the Sun allowing the sixth-fewest rebounds per game to their opponents. However, Connecticut doesn&#8217;t have the offensive firepower to keep up with Washington, particularly Sonia Citron, who is averaging 18.3 points per game and has scored 20+ points in three of her past four outings.

Reese leads the WNBA in rebounds per game (11.8), and she has been particularly elite on the boards when playing on the road, clearing this line in six of nine road outings this season. Her matchup against the Valkyries should be a good one, as she grabbed 12 boards in her last outing against them on Wednesday, and the team has allowed the fifth-most rebounds per game to its opponents.
Another factor that makes me like this prop bet even more is the fact that Golden State shoots a league-low 40.9% from the field, which should result in plenty of easy rebounding chances for Reese. Plus, it helps that the Valkyries&#8217; front court can shoot threes, and that should help Reese get better positioning to be a menace on the boards.

Mabrey is coming off a historic 53-point game against the Sparks on Thursday, and she has an elite matchup against the Mercury to continue her strong play, especially from three-point range. The 29-year-old seemingly gets better as the days go by, leading the league in both 3PTM and 3PTA, all while shooting a blistering 40.3% from deep. She has hit a whopping nine (!) threes in two of her last three games, and she should continue the trend against a Phoenix team that allows the most three-pointers and the second-best three-point percentage to its opponents this season.
3+ threes for a player with this type of shooting volume, on top of an elite matchup, is far too enticing to pass up. Mabrey hit six threes in her lone matchup against the Mercury back on May 19, and I&#8217;d be willing to bet she comes out firing after tying the WNBA&#8217;s single-game scoring record in her last outing.

Let&#8217;s continue the three-pointer trend and target Mitchell, who ranks eighth in 3PTM and ninth in 3PTA this season. The 30-year-old is averaging a career-high 21.4 points per game and gets to face the Sparks, who Mabrey just torched for 53 points and nine threes. Mitchell averages more FGA per game than Mabrey, too. Los Angeles has allowed the second-most 3PTM and third-most 3PTA to its opponents this season, and it boasts the league&#8217;s worst defensive rating.
Mitchell has been consistent at home as of late, too, hitting 3+ threes in five of her last six home outings. During that span, she has averaged 6.7 3PTA per game. Earlier in the season, she went 3-of-9 from deep range in her lone outing against the Sparks.

In nearly six weeks of the WNBA&#8217;s 30th season, the league has delivered a litany of entertaining games, fierce competition, and buzzer-beating highlights. The Minnesota Lynx currently sit atop the standings with 12 wins, while the Aces and Liberty are right behind them with just four losses apiece. Plenty of players have also separated themselves from the pack, making the early MVP conversation polarizing.

The Favorite: Minnesota Lynx (+280)
No Napheesa Collier? No problem! The Lynx have been absolutely rolling, winning 10 of their last 11 games and owning a ridiculous average point differential of +13.4 points. Olivia Miles, who I will discuss in more detail later, has exceeded any expectations of her rookie season, operating as a key floor general and the leading scorer for the Lynx. In the frontcourt, Natasha Howard has been an elite two-way player, averaging 17.6 PPG and 7.5 RPG while recording 1.7 steals per game. Defensively, four players are averaging over a steal per game, while the Lynx as a whole rank first in defensive efficiency (98.0) — oh, and they also rank first in offensive rating, by the way.
On Deck: Las Vegas Aces (+300) 
The reigning champs and team of four-time MVP A&#8217;ja Wilson sit second in the standings at 11-4, most notably taking down the Finals-favorite Lynx last week by just three points. Wilson is a beast, there&#8217;s no denying that, but the depth the Aces have displayed this season is no joke. Five players are averaging double digits, while Chennedy Carter — who has been injured and dealing with illness lately — started the season red hot off the bench. With veteran Chelsea Gray&#8217;s elite playmaking, the offense operates well, but the defense hasn&#8217;t been up to championship standards. However, this team knows how to get hot at the right moment, if you remember its 16-0 run to close out the 2025 regular season.
In The Hole: New York Liberty (+320)
New York didn&#8217;t have a hot start to the season, losing four of its first seven games, but has since won eight straight. Despite star bucket-getter Sabrina Ionescu being sidelined for most of the season due to injury, the Liberty&#8217;s offense has stayed consistent, led by none other than Breanna Stewart. However, Marine Johannes and rookie Pauline Astier have been pleasant surprises, averaging 11+ points each, while Johannes contributes 1.1 steals per game. Sitting fourth in both offensive and defensive rating, the Liberty have the pieces to make a championship run, but they&#8217;ll need to avoid injuries and keep the momentum rolling.

The Favorite: A’ja Wilson (-200)
Shocker. The reigning MVP and four-time winner of the award is the current favorite to win it again, which could further cement her legacy among the all-time WNBA greats. Wilson isn&#8217;t just the engine that runs the Aces, she controls both ends of the floor and brings incredible competitiveness and grit that can change the course of a game. Averaging 26.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game, the 29-year-old not only leads the league in scoring, but also in blocks (2.2), while owning the highest usage rate (31.5%). Wilson is a tough player to compete with, and if she continues on this path, she&#8217;ll have a strong case as the greatest of all time.
T-On Deck: Paige Bueckers (+700)
Bueckers has continuously improved her game throughout her sophomore season, playing more physically and efficiently. The guard is shooting an impressive 50.9% from the field and 40.9% from beyond the arc, a major jump from the 33.1% she shot from three during her rookie season. While she isn&#8217;t top 10 in scoring right now, her 18.6 points per game paired with 6.0 assists per game make her one of the most impactful players on the floor, powering the Wings to a 9-6 start in 2026.
T-On Deck: Cailtin Clark (+700)
You&#8217;ve heard this name before&#8230; Clark started the season off her game, which can be partly explained by her missing 290+ days of WNBA action due to injury last season, but she&#8217;s since returned to form. Clark is averaging 20.4 points and 8.3 assists per game while notching a handful of double-doubles. After drilling a game-winning buzzer-beater against the Mystics last Monday, Clark&#8217;s momentum has picked up and placed her comfortably in MVP conversations.
In The Hole: Olivia Miles (+1200)
Miles, the fan I am of you! Minnesota got a gem with the No. 2 overall pick, as Miles has operated as the Lynx&#8217;s starting point guard from the jump with no rookie jitters. She&#8217;s averaging 19.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.4 steals per game while shooting an incredibly efficient 56.6% from the field. In fact, Miles is coming off an explosive 31-point performance on 12-of-15 shooting, setting a WNBA rookie record with 24 points in the first half. If she continues to trend upward, Miles could become just the second rookie in WNBA history to win MVP, joining legend Candace Parker.

It&#8217;s not just scoring, though. Sykes has also been a defensive force, averaging 1.6 steals and 4.3 rebounds per game to solidify herself as a strong two-way player.
Sykes is on the heels of an explosive 38-point performance in overtime against the Sun and has averaged a whopping 26.6 points per game over her last six contests. Against a Mystics squad allowing the fourth-most points per game (86.9) while struggling to defend the perimeter, I expect Sykes to have another big outing as Toronto&#8217;s leading scorer.

The Valkyries haven&#8217;t had the most consistent start to the season, but Burton has been one of their most reliable offensive pieces, scoring double-digit points in all but two contests. While her rebounding hovers around three per game, Burton serves as the floor general for Golden State, averaging 5.8 assists per game while recording 6+ assists six times this season.
She&#8217;s also coming off a 25-point, eight-assist performance against the Mercury, which would have cleared this PRA line on points alone. Tonight, she faces a Seattle Storm squad that owns the league&#8217;s worst defensive rating over its last three games (114.5), making Burton&#8217;s versatility and +100 value tough to pass up.

Now this is a primetime-worthy matchup. The Lynx enter tonight on an eight-game win streak, lead the league in both offensive and defensive rating, and, yeah, they have Olivia Miles. The Aces are coming off a 105-89 victory over the Fire, highlighted by A&#8217;ja Wilson&#8217;s 32-point, two-block performance. Wilson hasn&#8217;t missed a beat this season, averaging 26.4 points and 9.3 rebounds per game, while Jackie Young continues to shine as a second option. Chennedy Carter has also been a force off the bench and is expected to return to form Saturday after a recent leg injury. I&#8217;m expecting a close matchup, but the Lynx are in far too good of form for me not to back them to cover.

This weekend’s WNBA slate brings plenty of competitive matchups as the Commissioner&#8217;s Cup continues. The Minnesota Lynx currently sit atop the Western Conference Cup standings with two wins, while the Mystics, Liberty, and Fever each have one win and are tied atop the Eastern Conference standings. With several key Cup matchups on deck, this weekend&#8217;s action could go a long way toward shaping the race for a spot in the championship game.

Chicago is in the middle of a five-game skid, largely stemming from the loss of Rickea Jackson to a torn ACL. The Sky&#8217;s offense has struggled lately, averaging just 78.0 points per game over its last three contests, and injuries continue to thin out the roster. Still, Connecticut hasn&#8217;t fared much better.
The Sun own the league&#8217;s lowest-scoring offense (75.5 PPG) while allowing the third-most points per game to opponents (88.4). Both teams have offensive issues, but Chicago has the edge defensively thanks to Kamilla Cardoso&#8217;s rim protection and rebounding. It should be a low-scoring game, but I&#8217;m backing the Sky to cover.
Kelsey Plum Over 2.5 Three Pointers Made (+122)
Plum is probable to return Friday after missing time with an ankle injury, and before going down, she was shooting a blistering 48.8% from three. The matchup isn&#8217;t ideal against a Wings defense allowing just 31.7% from deep, but Plum&#8217;s volume and shooting ability are hard to ignore.
If the ankle limits her ability to attack the rim, she could lean even more heavily on her perimeter game. In what projects to be a high-scoring matchup, I&#8217;m backing Plum to knock down at least three triples at plus money.

Taking the under in a game featuring Caitlin Clark, Breanna Stewart, Satou Sabally, and Kelsey Mitchell may seem backwards, but hear me out.
The Liberty&#8217;s offense hasn&#8217;t looked quite as dominant lately. With Sabrina Ionescu still sidelined, New York is averaging 87.6 points per game over its last three contests, and while the Liberty dropped 97 points in their last outing, that came against the Tempo, the league&#8217;s second-worst defense. Indiana presents a tougher challenge, ranking seventh in defensive rating and holding opponents to 45.6% shooting from the field.
The Fever haven&#8217;t exactly been lighting up the scoreboard either, averaging 85.0 points per game over their last three and failing to top 90 points since their overtime win over the Mystics. I&#8217;m expecting a competitive game, but I&#8217;m leaning toward the under.

The Lynx and Sky are getting very familiar with each other early in the season, as Friday marks the third matchup between the teams in 11 days. Minnesota took the most recent meeting 85-75 and has clearly found its rhythm lately, winning three straight while owning one of the league’s best defensive ratings (101.2) and shooting a league-best 51.4% from the field.
Olivia Miles has looked completely comfortable running the offense as a rookie, while Natasha Howard has been dominant lately, averaging 24 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists over her last two games. Chicago, meanwhile, has dropped three straight since losing leading scorer Rickea Jackson to a torn ACL. The offense has still produced, but the defense has struggled badly, especially on the glass. I don’t think this becomes a blowout, but Minnesota simply looks like the more complete team right now.
Kahleah Copper 20+ Points (-104)
I’m loving this pick. The Mercury are currently on a four-game skid and are coming off another loss to the Liberty, who they face again tonight. Kahleah Copper didn’t shoot particularly well in that matchup, finishing just 33.3% from the field and 22.2% from three, but she still led Phoenix with 19 points.
That’s been the biggest issue for the Mercury lately: consistent secondary scoring. Copper, meanwhile, has remained extremely steady, scoring 18+ points in four straight games, including two performances with 20 or more. Facing New York again with Phoenix desperate for a win, I’m backing Copper to once again carry the offensive load.

The Tempo are coming off one of their best offensive performances of the season after shooting 56% from the field in a 111-104 win over Chicago. Nyara Sabally exploded for 29 points, while rookie Kiki Rice continues to settle in nicely as a secondary creator and scorer.
Seattle, meanwhile, is still struggling offensively, shooting just 41.4% from the field through eight games. The Storm continue to defend at a high level, but with Dominique Malonga sidelined due to a concussion, the offensive identity still feels shaky. I’m leaning toward Toronto’s offense continuing to carry momentum on Friday.

Angel Reese 14+ Rebounds (-105): Reese has settled nicely into her new home with the Atlanta Dream, averaging 10.7 points and 12.7 rebounds per game through her first three contests. While her shooting efficiency remains low at just 33.3% from the field, that’s not why Atlanta traded for her. Reese has built her reputation by dominating the glass and making opponents pay with her physicality in the paint, leading the league in rebounds per game over the past two seasons.
Tonight, she’ll face a Dallas Wings team that ranks 11th in the league in rebounds per game (30.8) and prefers to play with pace and floor spacing rather than putting pressure in the paint. Reese has already recorded 14+ rebounds twice this season, and there’s a clear path for her to hit that mark again tonight.
Golden State Valkyries +6.5 (-115): This matchup features a clash of styles between the league’s fastest-paced team in Indiana and the slowest-paced team in Golden State — so which identity is going to give? The Fever currently lead the league in scoring at 94.4 points per game while shooting 46.0% from the field (7th). Meanwhile, the Valkyries average just 84.0 points per game (10th) and are shooting only 39.7% from the field. So, it’s easy to understand why Indiana enters this matchup as the favorite. However, Golden State doesn’t win with explosive offense, it wins with defense.
The Valkyries currently lead the league in defensive rating (98.7) while also taking care of the basketball, averaging a league-best 9.3 turnovers per game. They’ve consistently protected the rim and disrupted opposing offenses with physicality and pressure. We just watched them take down the high-powered Liberty offense, holding New York to only 70 points despite the return of three-time All-Star Satou Sabally. Golden State is also shooting 36.6% from beyond the arc (2nd in the league), so if those perimeter shots are falling and the Valkyries continue using their press to slow Indiana’s tempo, this matchup could end up being much closer than the line suggests.

Minnesota Lynx -1.5 (-120): Minnesota is coming off an impressive performance — or more accurately, a complete routing of Toronto — defeating the Tempo 100-72 behind an efficient 55% shooting night from the field. The Lynx dominated nearly every statistical category, outrebounding Toronto 46-25 while nearly doubling its points in the paint. Even without star Napheesa Collier, Minnesota has started to settle into a strong offensive rhythm. Five players scored in double figures in the win, and the team is now averaging 89.4 points per game (6th in the league). Olivia Miles has quickly emerged as an early star running the offense, averaging 15.2 points per game on an efficient 50% shooting clip while also leading the team in assists.
Chicago, on the other hand, opened the season with an impressive 3-1 start despite preseason doubts, but the Sky recently lost versatile two-way weapon Rickea Jackson to a torn ACL. Chicago fell to Dallas 99-89 in its last outing, though it still managed to score 85+ points despite missing a major offensive contributor.
While the Sky already got the better of Minnesota once this season, the circumstances feel different this time around. Chicago enters short-handed, while the Lynx are beginning to build momentum offensively. I like Minnesota to bounce back and take this one.
Fire vs. Tempo Under 175.5: Tonight features a matchup between the WNBA’s two newest franchises. Toronto enters this game on the heels of a blowout loss to the Lynx, where the team shot a disappointing 34% from the field and just 29% from beyond the arc. Unfortunately for the Tempo, that inefficiency hasn’t been a one-game issue. Through the early part of the 2026 season, Toronto ranks third-to-last in field-goal percentage at 40.4%.
The Fire, meanwhile, are shooting a respectable 44.7% from the field (8th in the league) through their first five games, but they still sit near the bottom tier of the WNBA in scoring output. Both expansion franchises are clearly dealing with the growing pains that come with building chemistry and identity on both ends of the floor. With inconsistent offensive production and two teams still trying to establish rhythm, I’m leaning toward a lower-scoring matchup tonight.

Kelsey Mitchell Over 21.5 Points (-110): Kelsey Mitchell, the fan I am of you. Through just two games this season, Mitchell has already dropped 53 points while shooting an impressive 51.5% from the field. And while she didn’t record a single rebound or assist in the Fever’s last outing, the 30-year-old still poured in 23 points in just 27 minutes.
With Caitlin Clark back in the mix, Mitchell doesn’t have to worry about being the primary distributor and can focus on what she does best: creating her own offense, thriving in transition, and being an all-around bucket. I’m expecting another 20+ point night from Mitchell, and she only needs one more basket to clear her points line.
Caitlin Clark 3+ Three Pointers Made (-130): Clark was notably cold from deep in her first outing in over 290 days, hitting just 2-of-9 attempts from beyond the arc. Game 2 against the Sparks wasn’t much better, as the 2024 Rookie of the Year went just 1-for-7 from three, dropping her early-season 3-point percentage to 18%.
While that number looks alarming on paper, I’m not too worried. Clark admitted she’s still working through a “mental hurdle” returning to the court, which helps explain why she’s looked sharp as a facilitator but inconsistent as a shooter. With two games now under her belt, tonight against the Mystics feels like a prime get-right spot for the 24-year-old known for pulling up from the logo without hesitation.
Marina Mabrey Over 28.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-115): Mabrey finished the 2026 Unrivaled season on an absolute heater, leading the league in points per game at 25.3, and I was very curious to see if that production would carry over to the W. Well, through two games, it absolutely has. The former Sun guard, acquired by Toronto in the Expansion Draft, is averaging 26.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists to start the season.
While the Tempo are still working through the expected growing pains of a new franchise, Mabrey has stepped into a strong veteran role as the team’s primary offensive engine, consistently keeping Toronto competitive. Tonight, she faces a 0-2 Sparks team allowing the third-most points per game in the league at 96.0, and I’m confident Mabrey can capitalize on a weaker defense to clear her PRA line.

The New York Liberty enter the season as the favorites to win it all at +220 and return almost their entire core from last year. Sabrina Ionescu, a huge part of New York’s identity, will miss at least the first game after suffering an ankle injury in the preseason, while Satou Sabally, the Liberty’s biggest offseason addition, will also start the season sidelined.
Connecticut has a less experienced roster and recently added 10-time All-Star Brittney Griner, but the Sun still feel undermatched against the Finals favorites.
Washington Mystics vs. Toronto Tempo (7:30 p.m. ET) — TOR -1.5, O/U 160.5
Introducing one of the league’s newest franchises, the Tempo, as Toronto hosts its inaugural home game Friday night. Marina Mabrey arrives from the Sun via the Expansion Draft and looks to carry over her dominant Unrivaled season, while former UCLA guard Kiki Rice headlines the draft class after averaging 14.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game.
The Mystics bring back sophomores Sonia Citron and Kiki Irafen, with Citron leading the league in three-point percentage at 44.5% as a rookie. The roster is young, but this is a good early test for both teams.
Golden State Valkyries vs. Seattle Storm (10:00 p.m. ET) — GS -6.5, O/U 157.5
Seattle underwent a roster overhaul in the offseason, with Nneka Ogwumike, Gabby Williams, Brittney Sykes, and Skylar Diggins-Smith all moving on. However, they’ve added young talent, including Spain’s Awa Fam at No. 3 overall. At 19, Fam brings fluidity at her size with the ability to pass and attack the rim. It’ll be interesting to see how she pairs with last year’s pick Dominique Malonga, who has shown elite athleticism and strong upside at 20.
Gabby Williams gets her former team on opening night and was Golden State’s top offseason addition. Her stats don’t jump off the page, but her defense definitely does. Williams’ 99 steals last season put her one shy of the record, and she adds speed and versatility to a Valkyries team that made the playoffs in its inaugural year.

Bring out the stars! Saturday tips off with Caitlin Clark facing last year’s Rookie of the Year Paige Bueckers, with the current favorite for the award, Azzi Fudd, also on the floor. We haven’t seen Clark since July 15, 2025 due to injury, but she returns as an elite facilitator for a Fever team that reached the second round despite missing multiple guards.
Bueckers is coming off an impressive rookie debut as the only player to rank top 10 in points, assists, and steals. Her former UConn teammate Azzi Fudd adds another pure shooter with the strength to contribute defensively, setting up a star-studded matchup.
Phoenix Mercury vs. Las Vegas Aces (3:30 p.m. ET)— LV -7.5 O/U 166.5
A’ja Wilson. Need I say more? The reigning champion enters 2026 after winning her fourth regular-season MVP and another Finals MVP. She shot 50.5% from the field while averaging 23.4 points and 10.2 rebounds on the way to a title. Jackie Young is another name to watch after averaging 16.5 points in the regular season, then elevating to 20.4 points per game in the playoffs while shooting 49.4%.
Don’t count out the Mercury, though. Phoenix brings back Alyssa Thomas, DeWanna Bonner, and Kahleah Copper as they push for a return to the playoffs. Thomas is coming off an MVP-level season with 15.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 9.2 assists, controlling the game with her physicality. The Mercury lost Satou Sabally but still have the experience and shooting to make an early statement.
Atlanta Dream vs. Minnesota Lynx (8:00 p.m. ET) — ATL -3.5, O/U 157.5
While many familiar faces changed teams, Angel Reese made the biggest splash. In Chicago, she led the league in rebounds and became the only player in WNBA history to average at least 12.0 per game in a season. She joins a physical, experienced roster that thrives on second-chance points. Rhyne Howard is a standout shooter, especially from deep, and with the fourth-best odds to win it all, the Dream are a team to watch.
Minnesota started last season red hot, often sitting atop the title odds behind Napheesa Collier’s two-way dominance. Coming into 2026, the roster looks a bit different. Co-DPOY Alanna Smith is gone, along with key role players, but the Lynx did bring back Kayla McBride — a sharpshooter coming off back-to-back All-Star seasons. Plus, Minnesota added TCU’s Olivia Miles at No. 2 overall in the draft, a smart floor general who led the NCAA in triple-doubles.
Chicago Sky vs. Portland Fire (9:00 p.m. ET) — CHI -4.5 O/U 160.5
The second expansion team to debut is the Fire, featuring Bridget Carleton, Carla Leite, and center Ceiseloder. We haven’t seen them in a regular season game yet, but they draw a softer matchup against a Sky team retooling its direction. After moving on from Angel Reese, Chicago now features Skylar Diggins, DiJonai Carrington, Azurá Stevens, Rickea Jackson, and No. 5 pick Gabriel Jaquez. Jaquez left UCLA on a high note after a dominant national championship run and shot 53.9% from the field in the regular season.
