A prolific shooter through four seasons at Penn State, Maggie Lucas was a 2014 second-round draft pick (21st overall) of the Phoenix Mercury, but acquired in a training camp trade just prior to the start of the 2014 season. Lucas begins her second season with Indiana.

2014: Lucas saw limited minutes as a rookie, appearing in 30 games with an average of 10.3 minutes per contest&#8230;she averaged 3.7 points per game&#8230;she made the first 19 free throws of her WNBA career and finished 22-of-23 from the charity stripe for the season&#8230;she posted a rookie scoring high of 17 points at New York, 8/17, with four 3-pointers&#8230;she had four games of double-figure scoring.

Lucas was a two-time Big Ten Player of the Year who scored 2,510 career points which was second in school history and fourth in conference history…she averaged 21.0 points per game as s senior, finishing her career with a Big Ten and Penn State-record 365 3-pointers, 12th in NCAA history…the sharpshooter shot better than 40 percent from 3-point range and better than 90 percent from the foul line in her four-year career&#8230;her career free throw percentage (.907) set a Big Ten record.
2013-14: Lucas led the Lady Lions to a third straight Big Ten regular season title…a second team AP All-American and the Big Ten Player of the Year for the second season…she was a finalist for the Wade Trophy, the John R. Wooden Award and the Senior CLASS Award…she was a first team All-Big Ten selection for a third straight season…Lucas scored a season-high 33 points in a season-opening game with St. Francis (Pa.), which included a school-record 16-of-16 free throws…she posted a season-high nine rebounds against Wichita State, 3/23, and a season-high six assists at Purdue, 1/30…she had a career-long string of 35 consecutive free throws made that was ended in January.
2012-13: Averaging 20.1 points per game, Lucas was an AP second team All-American and a finalist for the Wade Trophy and the John R. Wooden Award…selected as the 2013 Big Ten Player of the Year, she became the third Lady Lion to win the honor&#8230; chosen first team All-Big Ten, she became the 10th Lady Lion to win first team accolades multiple times in a career&#8230;Lucas broke the Bryce Jordan Center scoring record (men or women) with 39 points, including a BJC record-tying seven three-pointers, to go with a career-high six steals, in a win over Georgetown, 12/9…she notched her fourth career 30-point game with 34 points with a career-high eight 3-pointers at Nebraska, 3/3.
2011-12: Lucas averaged 19.5 points en route to honorable mention AP All-America honors…she was named to the All-Big Ten first team while leading finishing 12th in the NCAA in free throw percentage (.886)…she posted her only career double-double with 12 points and a personal-best 10 rebounds in a win over Ohio State, 2/20.
2010-11: The Big Ten Freshman of the Year, Lucas broke Big Ten and Penn State records for 3-pointers in a season (112)…she also earned the Big Ten Sixth Player of the Year award while pulling down All-Big Ten honors…she broke Penn State’s freshman scoring mark with 552 points…she became just the third player in Big Ten history with 100 or more 3-pointers in a season…an eight-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week recipient, she was fourth in NCAA Division I in 3-pointers made and 11th in 3-point percentage…she was selected to Big Ten All-Tournament team after averaging 14.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in three games…Lucas drained seven three-pointers on the way to a game-high 27 points against Hartford, 11/27.

Margaret Taylor Lucas was born November 29, 1991 in Philadelphia, Pa., and is the daughter of Betsy and Albert Lucas&#8230;she has two older brothers, Peter and Ben&#8230;she majored in recreation, park and tourism management at PSU, where she earned the nickname, “Machine Gun Maggie”…she was named to the McDonald’s and Parade Magazine High School All-America teams in 2010…she averaged 23.0 points, 4.5 assists and 3.8 steals per game as she led Germantown Academy to its second-straight Independent Schools State title and its 12th consecutive league crown…she won the McDonald’s High School All-America 3-point contest…she was a four-time first team all-state selection, and was named the 2010 Philadelphia Inquirer Southeastern PA Player of the Year and the 2010 Times Herald Player of the Year…she finished her career with 2,197 points, the second-highest total in Germantown Academy history (boys or girls)…the Patriots were 112-15 in her four years.
