“The sky’s the limit,” said former Fever coach Lin Dunn about 2011 top draft pick Jeanette Pohlen (now Pohlen-Mavunga)…all she did as a rookie was lead the WNBA in 3-point shooting percentage while appearing in all 34 games…since that time, Pohlen has navigated a troublesome path of injury, though 29 appearances as a standout reserve in 2017 spelled her finest season since 2012.
As a second-year star in 2012, she shot 42 percent from 3-point range, hit 5-of-5 3-point attempts in the playoffs and helped Indiana to the WNBA title, despite a torn left ACL sustained in Game 2 of the Finals vs. Minnesota…the former AP first-team All-American and the Pac-10 Player of the Year saw limited time in her third pro season with Indiana, as her rehab continued&#8230;prior to a 2014 season when she anticipated a clean bill of health, she succumbed to a torn left Achilles tendon.
She has signed free-agent contracts with the Fever prior to each of the 2015, 2016 and 2017 seasons.
She guided Stanford to the 2011 NCAA Final Four where it lost in the national semifinal game to eventual champion Texas A&amp;M on what would become her home floor at Bankers Life Fieldhouse…Pohlen and Stanford reached the Final Four in four consecutive seasons&#8230;a pair of her fans while at Stanford were student-athlete buddies Andrew Luck and Coby Fleenor, each of whom was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts.
She was married July 30, 2016, to Julian Mavunga, a local basketball star from Brownsburg, Ind., during the WNBA&#8217;s Olympic Break&#8230;Mavunga plays professionally overseas, and last winter played in Japan&#8230;Mavunga&#8217;s sister, Stephanie, also starred at Brownsburg High School and now plays at Ohio State.

2017: Pohlen-Mavunga enjoyed her best season since 2012, appearing 29 games off the bench with 3.4 points per game&#8230;she shot 15-of-39 (.385) from 3-point range and set career highs with 19 free throws on 23 attempts&#8230;she passed Stephanie White into ninth place in franchise history for 3-point field goals in a win over Atlanta, 6/15&#8230;she finished with 12 points and was perfect on three 3FG attempts at Washington, 8/12, in what was her first double-figure scoring game since 2013&#8230;she posted a season-high 13 points against Washington, 8/20, that included 11 points in the fourth quarter&#8230;she sank a pair of 3-pointers for six points in 12 minutes in a win over defending champion Los Angeles, 5/24.
2016: Pohlen joined the Fever at midseason, after being waived late in training camp&#8230;she averaged 1.3 points through 12 appearances.
2015: Pohlen played in 26 games and started the season opener against Chicago, 6/5&#8230;she finished with a 2.4-point scoring average and 0.6 assists per game&#8230;she netted a season-high six points on four occasions &#8211; three of those with a pair of 3-pointers&#8230;she shot 15-of-38 (.395) from beyond the arc.
2014: Waived in training camp, 5/5, due to a torn left Achilles tendon.
2013: Pohlen appeared in 15 of the Fever’s final 18 games after sitting out the first half of the season recovering from a torn ACL…she capped her regular season with a season-high 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the floor…she accounted six points and a pair of 3-pointers at Minnesota 8/24…Pohlen made her 2013 debut by scoring seven points on 2-of-3 shooting against Chicago, 8/3, finishing 1-of-2 from 3-point range…she tore her ACL in her left knee during Game 2 of the WNBA Finals at Minnesota, 10/17/12.
2012: Pohlen played in all 34 games for the Fever…she started in the last three games of the season and played all 40 minutes of the game at Washington, 9/21…she averaged 4.4 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game…she finished 11th in the WNBA for 3-point shooting percentage shooting 42.1 percent…she scored a season-high 14 points against Chicago, 6/27, shooting 5-of-7 from the field, including 4-of-6 from behind the arc.she had a career-high four steals at Connecticut, 9/19.
2011: One of three Fever players to appear in all 34 games, starting two…Pohlen averaged 3.9 points and 1.4 rebounds in 16 minutes per game…she scored a career-high 17 points including 5-of-5 shooting from the 3-point line at Phoenix, 6/19…besides leading the WNBA in 3-point shooting percentage, she broke rookie franchise records of field goal percentage (.471), 3-point field goal percentage (.468), and 3-point field goal percentage in a game (1.000)…she tied a franchise record of playing in 34 games as a rookie.

2013: Pohlen saw limited time in the final three games of the playoffs…she recorded seven points in games against Chicago, 9/22, and Atlanta, 9/29…she shot 50 percent from the field against Chicago, 9/22.
2012: Pohlen played in six of the 10 Fever postseason games before tearing her left ACL in Game 2 of the WNBA Finals…she totaled 19 points through six games, 14 coming as part of a 5-of-5 shooting night with four 3-pointers in a decisive Game 3 of the conference finals at Connecticut, 10/11, while replacing Katie Douglas.
2011: Pohlen saw action in five of the six Fever postseason games…in 36 total minutes, she scored 10 points…she scored a playoff career-high eight points at New York, 9/17, in the Eastern Conference Semifinals

2008-09: Named to All-Pac-10 Second Team&#8230;she earned a spot on the All-West Regional team during the NCAA Tournament&#8230;named the Pac-10 Player of the Week on March 9, she was one of three Stanford players to start all 38 games…she averaged 10.7 points, 3.84 assists and led the team by playing 31.9 minutes a game&#8230;she scored in double figures 23 times in 38 appearances and scored a season-high 21 points in a win over Arizona, 3/5.
2007-08: Named Pac-10 All-Freshman honorable mention, she saw action in all 39 games during the season and averaged 4.6 points with 2.9 rebounds per game while shooting 43.0 percent from the field…she opened her college career by scoring 15 points in a win over Yale, 11/9.

A member of the gold medal-winning U.S. team in the 2009 World University Games in Belgrade, Serbia, Pohlen started six of the seven games…she averaged 5.0 points and 3.0 assists as part of a team-high 23.0 minutes per game.

Jeanette Pohlen-Mavunga was born May 2, 1989, in Downey, Calif&#8230;she is the daughter of Cindy and the late John Pohlen&#8230;her father passed away in Dec. 2012 due to pulmonary fibrosis, a cause for which she is now devoted to raising awareness&#8230;she has an uncle that played football at Notre Dame…her great-uncle, Neil, is in the Texas A&amp;M Basketball Hall of Fame…her grandfather and great grandfather both played basketball at Purdue…she has two older brothers, John and Tom…Pohlen was married to Julian Mavunga on July 30, 2016, in Newport Beach, Calif&#8230;Mavunga is a former basketball star at nearby Brownsburg High School where he led the Bulldogs to the 2008 IHSAA 4A state championship at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, alongside teammate Gordon Hayward&#8230;Mavunga, a 6-8 power forward, later starred at Miami-Ohio and currently plays professionally overseas (China in 2015-16; Japan in 2016-17)&#8230;Mavunga’s younger sister, Stephanie, was named 2013 Indiana Miss Basketball while at Brownsburg and currently stars at Ohio State&#8230;when she is finished playing basketball, Pohlen considers sports broadcasting as a possible aspiration&#8230;in her own prep career, Pohlen was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in California as a high school senior, and was the state’s Miss Basketball…she was named to California’s All-State team in each of her four years…a McDonald’s All-American, she also received similar awards from EA Sports, Max Preps, Parade, SLAM and the WBCA…she was named a high school All-American as a junior by Scout Magazine…while being named All-CIF DIIA Southern Section Player (or Co-Player), of the Year in 2005 through 2007, she was also named the Orange County Player of the Year each of those seasons…for her efforts in the classroom, she was a four-time Century League Scholar-Athlete…a four-year letterwinner and two-time captain at Brea Olinda High School in Brea, Calif., she holds school records for career points (2,196) and rebounds (1,140)…she also holds five school single-season records as well as a pair of single-game records.
