Burton did her part, contributing a little bit across the board in Game 2. She managed at least three steals in her final three games. After starting just 20 of 107 games in her first three WNBA seasons, she started all 44 games for the Valkyries in the regular season. Burton appears to be a cornerstone player for Golden State heading into 2026.

Burton took on a significant role for the Valkyries after being selected by the team during the WNBA Expansion Draft during the offseason. She served exclusively as a starter while appearing in all 44 regular-season games, averaging 11.9 points, 6.0 assists, 4.4 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 0.6 blocks in 29.4 minutes per game, all of which were career-best marks. The Valkyries lost Game 1 of their first-round playoff series to the Lynx on Sunday, but Burton performed well, amassing 14 points, seven assists, five rebounds, three steals and a block in 34 minutes, although she also committed a season-high seven turnovers. The 25-year-old "Backcourt Burglar" will presumably be a key contributor in Wednesday's Game 2 as Golden State attempts to stave off elimination.

Burton tied the team high in scoring, though she struggled with efficiency. The 25-year-old guard also led all players in assists, dishing out at least seven for the third consecutive appearance. She also led Golden State in steals and has recorded eight swipes over her last two outings. Burton and the Valkyries will look to stave off elimination at home Wednesday.

Burton couldn't find her rhythm offensively, but she matched her season-high mark of five steals in the loss. She had quite the regular season, posting averages of 11.9 points, 6.0 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals while leading the Valkyries to the playoffs in their first-ever campaign.
