The sixth pick of the second round (18th overall) in the 2017 WNBA Draft, Simms opened her rookie season with the Washington Mystics and played in 10 games through July 16&#8230;she saw action in four games with Indiana to end the season…the Conference USA Player of the Year and the nation’s second-leading scorer with 26.0 points per game as a college senior, she was signed by the Fever on Aug. 21 as an emergency replacement player for the final two weeks of the 2017 campaign…the 6-foot guard provides depth to the Fever backcourt.

2017: Simms averaged 1.6 points and 1.1 rebounds per game between stops in Washington and Indiana&#8230; she posted 1.2 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game during a 10-game stay to begin her rookie campaign with the Mystics…her top two scoring games both were against Minnesota: four points on 6/9 while with the Mystics; and nine points on 8/30 with the Fevershe was waived July 27 by Washington and claimed 8/21 by Indiana.

The 12th Old Dominion player ever drafted in the WNBA, Simms left ODU ranked fifth on the school’s all-time scoring list with 2,151 career points…she became just the sixth Lady Monarch to score 2,000 career points and only the third to score 2,000 in her first three seasons at ODU…she broke school records for career 30+ and 40+ scoring games, totaling 12 games of 30+ during the 2016-17 season, and 18 in her three-year career.
2016-17: An Honorable Mention AP All-American, Simms was named the Conference USA Player of the Year, the first ODU player to be named conference player of the year since Lucienne Berthieu in 2002…she was an All-C-USA First Team selection for the third straight year…Simms was the nation&#8217;s second-leading scorer at 26.0 points per game, breaking Anne Donovan&#8217;s school record of 25.1, which stood since the 1980-81 season…she scored 40+ twice, including a Ted Constant Center Record 43 in the win over Marshall, bringing her career total of 40+ games to three…she was one of only two players in the country to average 20+ points, 8+ rebounds and 4+ assists per game…she broke her own school record for free throws made (203) and attempted (255), while also setting the ODU record for career free throws made (548)…she was a repeat performer on the C-USA All-Tournament Team after averaging 31.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists in two games and was the only player from a non-finalist team on the All-Tournament Team…Simms was named the C-USA Player of the Week on four different occasions and the USBWA National Player of the Week on Feb. 6…she was one of 28 players named to the USBWA Player of the Year Midseason Watch List.
2015-16: Simms repeated as a Conference USA All-Conference First Team and C-USA All-Tournament Team selection, as the two-time C-USA Player of the Week finished the season as the league’s overall (21.4) and conference (22.2) scoring leader…she also stuffed the stat sheet with 6.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists per outing…she poured in double-digit scoring 29 times and was the only player in C-USA to notch 30-plus points five times…she turn in the league’s top scoring mark for the season with a 39-point onslaught at UTSA…the standout guard also set a new ODU single-game record for free-throws made and attempted when she went 18-for-21 from the free-throw line at UTSA…Simms made history against FIU, becoming just the sixth Old Dominion women’s basketball player to score 1,000 points in two years, scoring 1,320 points to sit in second behind Anne Donovan (1,527)…she also became the 32nd Lady Monarch to reach 1,000 career points.
2014-15: Simms garnered Conference USA Newcomer of the Year, First Team All-Conference USA and All C-USA Tournament Team accolades…Simms scored 45 points in a win at FIU which tied the second-best figure in Lady Monarch history…she appeared in all 34 games and started in 33…she was named MVP of 2014 South Point Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas&#8230;she led Old Dominion in scoring and rebounding, averaging 19.3 points  (35th in NCAA and 2nd in C-USA) and 8.1 rebounds a contest…she scored 20 or more points in 15 games and netted double-figures in 31 of 34&#8230;Simms hauled down 14 rebounds on three different occasions in 2014-15, while dishing six assists twice.
2013-14: Simms transferred to ODU and redshirted due to NCAA transfer rules.
2012-13: Simms averaged 3.1 points and 1.6 rebounds in eight games as a freshman at West Virginia…she scored 11 points in games against LSU and South Carolina Upstate.

A native of Accokeek, Md., Jennie Simms is the daughter of Darrick and Martina Simms…she has one sister…her father played basketball at the University of Virginia (1985-88)…she was a sociology major at ODU…Simms earned first team all-conference honors by averaging 14 points and 12 rebounds per game her senior year at Riverdale Baptist…Simms led her squad to a 38-2 record and a No. 1 ranking in the East by USA Today…she had 19 points and 14 rebounds in the Crusaders&#8217; 63-59 victory over Dr. Phillips High of Orlando, Fla., in the ESPN National High School Invitational (NHSI) championship game…she earned the tournament&#8217;s Most Valuable Player and was on the NHSI All-Tournament Team…she ranked as the No. 87 overall recruit in the country coming out of Riverdale Baptist, and was No. 20 at her position by ESPNUHoopGurlz.
