WNBA Overseas Report: November 14

The WNBA season may have ended just over a month ago, but many players aren’t just sitting around during the offseason. Instead, they are spending their time honing their skills and enhancing their game so that they can come back stateside and dominate.
Here’s a look at the top performances across Asia and Europe, featuring WNBA stars, former Rookies of the Year and champions.
Jewell Loyd (Seattle Storm)
The 2015 WNBA Rookie of the Year is currently lighting it up for Shanxi Flame in China to the tune of 34.6 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. The team is 8-2 and undefeated at home, largely due to her impressive contributions.
Loyd increased her scoring by nearly six points per game in her sophomore season for the Seattle Storm and will look to break out even further next season.
Breanna Stewart (Seattle Storm)
Loyd’s Storm teammate and fellow Rookie of the Year winner, Breanna Stewart, hasn’t disappointed for Shanghai Baoshan Dahua in China.
Stewie is leading the squad in most categories by posting an incredible 31.8 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game. She’s also shooting 48.5% from downtown.
The drastic uptick in 3-point shooting is a delight for Storm fans – comparatively, Stewart shot 34 percent from 3-point range last season – and if she can upgrade to this percentage during the WNBA season, her offensive game will be nearly unstoppable.
Sylvia Fowles (Minnesota Lynx)
Playing for the Beijing Great Wall, Fowles is averaging a team-leading 23.6 points and 10.8 rebounds per game in the CBA.
The U.S. Olympian saw a slight dip in her scoring for the Minnesota Lynx last season, but she’s currently pouring in buckets overseas. The 2016 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year is also leading the Great Wall in blocks per game with 1.2.
Jamierra Faulkner (Chicago Sky)
Shifting focus to Europe, Jamierra Faulkner is dropping dimes for Mersin MBK in Turkey.
The 24-year-old point guard is averaging 14 points and 12.3 assists per game. In 2016, Faulkner averaged a career-best 4.6 assists per game in the WNBA last season, so her good form has continued.
Candace Parker (Los Angeles Sparks)
The 2016 WNBA champion has taken her talents to Asia, where she is trying to carry the Xinjiang Tianshan Deers in China.
Though the team is 3-7 thus far, Parker is averaging 16.2 points and 7.8 rebounds in those 10 games.
