ARLINGTON, Texas – The Dallas Wings announced the team’s coaching staff for the upcoming 2020 WNBA season today. Head Coach Brian Agler, the winningest coach in women’s professional basketball history, will be assisted by Crystal Robinson, Bryce Agler and Camille Little.
Robinson will join the team for her second season in Dallas as an assistant coach, Bryce Agler was promoted to assistant coach and Little was named as the Wings’ new Player Development Coach.
Robinson won the 2018 WNBA Championship as an assistant coach with the Seattle Storm. Before joining the coaching ranks, Robinson played for the Colorado Xplosion of the ABL and was then drafted by the WNBA’s New York Liberty in 1999. The Atoka, Oklahoma native played eight seasons in the WNBA, ending her playing career with the Washington Mystics during the 2007 season.
“As we keep building our team and culture, continuity can be an asset,” Head Coach Brain Agler said, “Crystal had a great season with us last year and we are excited that she will be returning. Crystal connects with everyone and her basketball knowledge is respected by all. Crystal will be working with our perimeter players and their game.”
“I couldn’t be more excited to learn and work for Brian for another season,” Robinson said. “With a year of growth under their belts this should be a very exciting season.”
Bryce Agler, the son of Head Coach Brian Agler, had previously filled the Player Development role before being promoted to assistant coach. Agler had also served as a Development Coach for Los Angeles Sparks, helping the Sparks to a WNBA Championship in 2016. Additionally, Agler was the video coordinator for the SMU Women’s Basketball team, an assistant coach at Eastern Illinois University and a student coach for the men’s basketball team at Wittenburg University.
“Coaching in the WNBA for the last 4 seasons, Bryce gives our organization experience and knowledge of the teams and players in the league,” Agler said. “He does a great job with our team in game and practice preparation. He will be working with both the post and perimeter players. He has developed a nice rapport with our young players.”
“I’m thrilled for the opportunity to be an assistant coach,” Bryce said. “We have a lot of great momentum going into this season and I’m excited to get started.”
Little, a 13-year WNBA vet, played in the most WNBA games – 431 – of any player since 2007. The Winston-Salem native suited up for the San Antonio Silver Stars, Atlanta Dream, Seattle Storm, Connecticut Sun and Phoenix Mercury, claiming a championship with Brian Agler while in Seattle in 2010. Throughout the course of her career, Little accumulated 3,551 points, 1802 rebounds, 590 assists and 437 steals in 431 games, the seventeenth most games played all-time.
“We are excited to be adding Camille to our staff,” Agler said. She has a wealth of playing experience and a strong desire to coach in the WNBA. I coached Camille for 8 seasons, and she is one of the smartest players I’ve been around. She is a great person and competitor. Camille has the ingredients to be a great coach. She will be working with our post players and the development of all our players.”
&#8220;I&#8217;m beyond excited and grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow as a coach with such a great organization,” Little said. “I can&#8217;t wait to get started.&#8221;
Erin Phillips, who played on the Wings inaugural 2016 squad before transition to various coaching roles during the past three seasons, will not return.
“I want to thank Erin for her time, commitment and efforts,” Agler said. “Erin did a great job for us. We all wish her and her family the very best.”
&#8220;I want to thank Greg Bibb, The Dallas Wings organization, our players and the incredible fans for my time as a player and coach over the past four years,” Phillips said. “The future for the Wings is extremely bright and I look forward to watching them as I pursue opportunities back home in Australia.”
