Here are the 12 WNBA stars headed to Rio in search of the U.S. Women’s National Team’s sixth straight Olympic gold medal.

The 6-foot-9 Griner will be playing in her first Olympics after an impressive early start to her career which includes a 2014 championship and two Defensive Player of the Year awards already.
Her ability to protect the rim and the matchup nightmare she presents will be tough for any opposing defense to contend with.

Whalen has been a model of consistency at the point guard position as she holds a career assists per game average of 5.1 over her 13-year career and has never averaged less than 4 assists per game in any season.
She was part of the 2012 gold medal team and the 3-time champion will look to set the tone on offense for USA.

Angel’s scoring and perimeter defense will be key for Team USA as she seeks her 2nd gold medal.
McCoughtry already has 2 scoring titles to her name and 4 All-Star appearances with the Dream.

The 2012 MVP is enjoying the best year of her career statistically, leading the league in both points per game (21.4) and rebounds (9.6).
Charles will be looking for her 2nd gold medal after playing on the 2012 team and will provide toughness on the interior as well as floor spacing for a frontcourt player.

Taurasi’s WNBA resume speaks for itself: 3 championships, 2 Finals MVPs, 1 MVP, 5 scoring titles, 9 All-WNBA First Team selections and 7 All-Star appearances.
Throw in the fact that she already has 3 gold medals and it’s clear that she will be a focal point and leader for this team.

EDD is one of the most lethal scorers the league has ever seen and will provide versatility, shooting and playmaking for Team USA.

Augustus is a dynamic scorer who will be looking for her 3rd gold medal with Team USA.
In her WNBA career she has already compiled 3 championships, 1 Finals MVP and 6 All-Star appearances.

Moore is looking for her 2nd gold medal to add to an impressive list of accomplishments.
In her young career she is already a 3-time champion, 2-time Finals MVP, 1-time MVP and has one scoring title.
Moore’s versatility will be key on both ends of the floor for Team USA.

In her 15th and last season, Tamika will have a chance to capture her 4th gold medal with Team USA.
The 5-time Defensive Player of the Year, 10-time All-Star and 1-time champion will be the ultimate leader on and off the court for Team USA.

Bird will team with Whalen to form a formidable duo at the point guard position.
Bird has accumulated 3 gold medals, 2 championships and 9 All-Star appearances over her legendary career.

The No. 1 pick and 4-time national champion has lived up to and exceeded all reasonable expectations in her rookie year.
Stewie is top 5 in points per game (19.3), second in rebounds (9.3) and third in blocks (2.2). She will contribute in any way possible as she learns from the greats in WNBA history.
She is joined by Storm teammate, Sue Bird, as the two will try and carry over momentum into a Playoff push for Seattle.
