Lynx Sign Head Coach and General Manager Cheryl Reeve to Multi-Year Contract Extension

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Lynx announced the team has signed Head Coach and General Manager Cheryl Reeve to a multi-year contract extension. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not released.

“I am grateful to Glen and Becky for their ongoing support and commitment,” said Lynx head coach and general manager Cheryl Reeve. “We have shared an incredible decade of Lynx basketball together, both on and off the court, and I look forward to the years ahead.”

“I am thrilled that Cheryl will continue to lead our Lynx basketball operations for years to come,” said Lynx owner Glen Taylor. “Cheryl’s leadership both on and off the court is unmatched and was evident by this year’s team success that featured three All-Stars, a Rookie of the Year and a player on the All-WNBA team. We look forward to the rest of the offseason as we build towards the 2020 season and a run at a fifth championship.”

Reeve wrapped up her 10th season as Lynx head coach in 2019, her second in the dual role of head coach and general manager. On September 18, she was named the WNBA’s Basketball Executive of the Year after leading Minnesota to its ninth consecutive playoff berth, becoming the first female to receive the award. She has also earned WNBA Coach of the Year accolades in 2011 and 2016.

Under Reeve’s tutelage, the Lynx have compiled 231 wins in the last 10 seasons, the most prolific decade run in WNBA history. Since taking over in 2010, Reeve’s .679 winning percentage (231-109) ranks first in league history; Houston’s Van Chancellor (211-111, .655) is the only other coach to have won at better than a 60 percent clip. In addition, Reeve is the WNBA’s all-time leader in playoff wins (40) and playoff winning percentage (40-17, .702), and tied with Chancellor atop the list with four WNBA championships.
