Stars Sign Sequoia Holmes For Remainder of the Season

SAN ANTONIO (July 11, 2017) – The San Antonio Stars today announced that the team has signed guard Sequoia Holmes for the remainder of the season.
Holmes (G, 5-10, UNLV) signed a training camp contract with the Stars on April 6 and appeared in 10 games before being waived on June 28. She averaged 2.9 points and 1.5 rebounds in 13.9 minutes.
The Las Vegas native has played overseas since 2011, most recently with GD Inter-Clube de Luanda in Angola. She averaged 11.3 points and 3.1 rebounds in 25.6 minutes in international play. Holmes reached the Angolan Championship Cup three consecutive seasons from 2014 to 2016 and won the Angolan Champions Cup in 2014 and 2016, along with the Angolan Supercup in 2016. In 2010, she reached the WNBA Western Conference Finals with the Phoenix Mercury, where she averaged 1.8 points and 1.3 rebounds in 15 games. Holmes began her professional career in 2008 with the Houston Comets, averaging 3.1 points and 2.1 rebounds in 11.9 minutes.
The Stars start a three-game road trip Wednesday, July 12 at the Indiana Fever at 11 a.m. CDT. San Antonio will host its next home game Thursday, July 20 vs. Indiana at 7 p.m. CDT at the AT&T Center.
