West Defeats East, 130-121 In Verizon All-Star Game 2017
The stars were out in Seattle as the WNBA’s best took to the floor in KeyArena. The game got off to a frenetic start as both teams were looking to score early and often. Proceedings were tied at 64 apiece heading into the 2nd half but a flurry of buckets saw the West eventually pull away to earn the win, 130-121. Maya Moore captured her second All-Star game MVP award while Jonquel Jones led all scorers with 24 points.
Overall, the game’s 251 combined points were an All-Star game record while the West’s 130 points tied the most in All-Star history. Maya Moore, Nneka combined for 45 points in the win.
Maya Moore Earns MVP Honors
For the second straight All-Star game Maya Moore was awarded with the game’s MVP trophy. Moore led the West in scoring with 23 points, shooting a highly efficient 52.9% from the field.
Jonquel Bursts Onto The Scene
In her first All-Star game appearance Jonquel Jones finished with a game-high 24 points and punctuated her performance with a one-hand dunk at the end of regulation.
Quigley Captures 3PT Crown
Chicago’s Allie Quigley put on a show during the 3-point competition at halftime. She tallied an impressive 27 points in the final to defeat New York’s Sugar Rodgers.
