A dynamic combo guard, Paris Kea was chosen by Indiana with the 25th pick of the 2019 WNBA Draft, hoping to add quality depth to a backcourt including Kelsey Mitchell, Tiffany Mitchell, Erica Wheeler and Shenise Johnson…she averaged 18 points per game over three full seasons in Chapel Hill after transferring from Vanderbilt.

 

COLLEGE

Kea owns North Carolina’s second-highest career scoring average at 18.0 points per game…she ranks 17th in school history with 1,637 career points in only three seasons in Chapel Hill, the seventh-most points ever scored in a three-year span in program history…she was only the fourth UNC player to score 1,000 points in first two seasons at the school…she finished 10th in school history in career FT percentage (.770) and 3FG percentage (.348)…she scored in double figures in 82 of 91 games with the Tar Heels…she was one of 11 UNC players to earn multiple first team All-ACC honors…her seven career 30-point games are the second-most in program history.

2018-19: A first team All-ACC selection for a second season, she was a WBCA honorable mention All-American as a senior…she averaged 17.3 points, 3.9 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game…she shot a career-high 78.9 percent (86-of-109) from the foul line…she was on the Nancy Lieberman Award Watch List as the nation’s top point guard, and also on watch lists for the Wooden and Naismith awards, as well as the Senior CLASS Award…she was the ACC Player of the Week and the recipient of numerous national player of the week awards after scoring 30 points with 10 assists as UNC upset No. 1-ranked Notre Dame, 1/27…in the win over the Irish, she became the fourth Division I player in the last 20 years to have a 30-point, 10-assist game against a ranked opponent…she scored a season-high 32 points in a 64-51 road win at previously unbeaten No. 7 NC State, 2/3……she averaged 23.0 points in two ACC Tournament games, including 27 points against top seed and eventual champ Notre Dame in the quarterfinals.

2017-18: A first-team All-ACC selections as a junior, Kea averaged 19.4 points per game, the 10th highest figure in school history…she led the ACC with four games of 30 or more points…she ranked 2nd in the ACC in minutes (37.4), 3rd in scoring (19.4), 3rd in assists (4.8), 4th in 3FG shooting (.405), 4th in steals (2.1), fifth in 20-point games (14), 7th in field goals made (226) and 9th in assist/turnover ratio (1.5)…she was the only ACC player to score 30 points and have 10 assists in a game during the 2017-18 season (31 points and career-high 11 assists against South Alabama)…she scored a career-high 36 points in a victory over Duke…she averaged 27.5 points in two ACC Tournament games, scoring 28 and 27 points, respectively, against Boston College and NC State…she scored 33 points in a win over Washington and 31 points against Miami.

2016-17: As a sophomore, she had a breakthrough performance in her first season with North Carolina, averaging a team-leading 17.2 points and 4.1 assists per game… she was an even better against the ACC, averaging 18.8 points per game…she started all 31 games and ranked first in the ACC in minutes played (36.2), 4th in field goals made (221), fifth in scoring (17.2), 5th in 20-point scoring games (13), 8th in assists (4.1), 8th in steals (2.2), 9th in field goal percentage (48.6) and 10th in points scored (534)…she scored a season-high 32 points against Minnesota…she scored in double figures 27 times and was UNC’s leading scorer in 11 games…she posted nine points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists against Virginia, falling just short of the first triple-double in program history…she averaged 21.5 points in the final 13 games of the season.

2015-16: Kea sat out the 2015-16 season due to NCAA transfer regulations.

2014-15: Kea played in all in 31 games for Vanderbilt in the 2014-15 season, making eight starts…she averaged 6.9 points per game and dished a team-high 94 assists (3.0 per game)…she scored a season-high 18 points in the regular-season finale at No. 6 Tennesse.

 

INTERNATIONAL

2014: Member of the 2014 USA U18 National Team that posted a 5-0 record and won the 2014 FIBA Americas Championship gold medal…she compiled 19 points, 17 assists and 11 rebounds in five games.

 

PERSONAL

Paris Kea was born April 7, 1996…she is the daughter of Willie and Swanee Kea, and has a younger brother, Jermani…she was a psychology major at UNC…she graduated from Page High School as the all-time scoring leader in school history…she was a three-time AP All-State selection in high school and a McDonald’s All-American after averaging 24.2 points and 7.1 rebounds as a senior, helping Page to a 20-7 record, a conference championship and the regional semifinals…she helped Page cap the 2012-13 season with a 28-2 record and a berth in the North Carolina Class 4A championship game with averages of 15.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 2.6 steals per game…she averaged 14.0 points while leading Page to a 22-5 record as a sophomore and the third round of the state playoffs…a two-sport standout, she was a junior varsity soccer player for three years and a varsity letterwinner as a senior.
