Denise is a Brooklyn-born artist and activist using the camera as a medium for storytelling. Deriving her inspirations from music, family, and her ethnic roots in the Caribbean, she attempts to reshape the narrative of the black experience. “It is important to not just tell their stories but to shift the narrative from that of oppression to glorification.” She does so by showcasing subjects in various ways of human expression. She is able to show captivating scenes of melanated people in places and moods they have not typically been seen.
