WNBA Tips Off FIT Week

– In Partnership with Bright Pink, WNBA to Hold Breast Health Awareness Day on Aug. 29
– WNBA will Conduct Virtual Health Programs and Events Throughout the Week
NEW YORK, Aug. 25, 2020 – WNBA FIT Week tips off today and runs through Aug. 31 as part of WNBA FIT, the league’s comprehensive health and wellness platform that encourages living a healthy lifestyle.
Throughout the week, the league will engage teams, players, partners and community organizations to highlight the importance of leading an active and healthy life while following the latest health and safety guidelines.
As part of WNBA FIT Week, the WNBA and Bright Pink will continue its commitment to raising awareness about breast health with WNBA Breast Health Awareness (BHA) Day on Aug. 29.
BHA Day will feature three nationally televised games including the Seattle Storm facing off against the Chicago Sky on ABC at 2 p.m. ET followed up by the Dallas Wings taking on the Indiana Fever on CBS at 4 p.m. ET.
Working in partnership with Bright Pink, the WNBA will focus on the prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women while providing support for high-risk individuals. Teams playing on Aug. 29 will wear black WNBA BHA warm-up shirts and jerseys to raise awareness.
Throughout the week, the league and its teams will host virtual programs and events from the WNBA “Wubble” such as virtual yoga and meditation sessions to promote mental health and fortitude as well as virtual workout classes and panels. The league will host a virtual WNBA FIT – Total Athlete Panel focusing on building a healthier community that will encourage taking care of the body, mental performance, diet and nutrition, teamwork and leadership, and time management.
CBS Sports Network (CBSSN) and ESPN networks will feature 14 games throughout WNBA FIT Week beginning Tuesday, Aug. 25 featuring a double header on CBSSN with the New York Liberty led by Kia Nurse, against the Chicago Sky with Eastern Conference player of the week Courtney Vandersloot at 7 p.m. ET, and the A’ja Wilson-led Las Vegas Aces matching up against Arike Ogunbowale and the Dallas Wings at 9 p.m. ET. The double header will be followed up with Kelsey Mitchell and the Indiana Fever facing off against the current league leader Seattle Storm, led by Breanna Stewart, at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
