WNBA Overseas Report - EuroLeague Women (Week of 1/6)
After nearly a three week break for the holiday season, the EuroLeague Women resumed action the week of 1/6.
With one of the premier offseason leagues back in action, let’s take a look at some of the top performances from WNBA players.
Alyssa Thomas
Team: ZVVZ USK Praha (Czech Republic)
League: EuroLeague Women
Stats (1/8): 17 PTS | 11 REB | 8 AST
Arguably the most complete player in EuroLeague Women this season, Alyssa Thomas continued her dominance in an 82-64 victory over Bourges Basket. Thomas flirted with a triple-double and finished with 17 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists in the win.

It was yet another double-double for Thomas, who is averaging 19.6 points (2nd in league) and a league-high 12.2 rebounds per game. After filling up the stat sheet and averaging 18.4 points, 9.2 rebounds and 7.6 assists during the WNBA Finals 2019, Thomas’ increased production has continued overseas.
Courtney Vandersloot
Team: UMMC Ekaterinburg (Russia)
League: EuroLeague Women
Stats (1/8): 10 PTS | 8 REB | 7 AST
Running point for the back-to-back defending champions of the EuroLeague, Courtney Vandersloot has been thriving. In their most recent 71-50 win over Nadezhda, Vandersloot stuffed the stat sheet for 10 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. She currently leads the league in assists per game (7.7) and has been key to the team’s 8-1 start.

Stephanie Mavunga
Team: BLMA (France)
League: EuroLeague Women
Stats (1/8): 30 PTS | 6 REB | 3 STL | 3 BLK
A rising third year player in the WNBA, Stephanie Mavunga has thrived in her role with BLMA in the EuroLeague Women. Averaging a double-double 19.2 points and 10.9 rebounds per game, Mavunga has established herself as a premier player in the league. In BLMA’s most recent 85-79 victory over Arka Gdynia, Mavunga posted a season-high 30 points while tacking on six rebounds, three steals and three blocks.

Having appeared in 49 games and averaging 2.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per game off the bench over the past two seasons in the WNBA, it will be interesting to see if Mavunga’s breakout performance overseas is an indication of increased production this upcoming WNBA season.
Brittney Griner
Team: UMMC Ekaterinburg (Russia)
League: EuroLeague Women
Stats (1/8): 20 PTS | 5 REB | 2 BLK
Coming off a season in which she averaged a WNBA league-high 20.7 points per game, Brittney Griner has continued her scoring output overseas. In UMMC Ekaterinburg’s most recent 71-5o victory over Nadezhda, Griner finished with 20 points, five rebounds and two blocks in 28 minutes of game action.

On the season, Griner is averaging 17.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. At the age of 29, Griner has shown no signs of slowing down and continues to be one of the most dominant Centers in women’s basketball.
Alysha Clark
Team: LDL ASVEL Feminin (France)
League: EuroLeague Women
Stats (1/9): 18 PTS | 4 REB | 2 STL
Making her season debut for LDL ASVEL Feminin this past week, Alysha Clark was back like she never left. In a 65-63 win over Spar Citylift Girona, Clark led Lyon to victory behind a team-high 18-point game.

With the team currently sitting in fourth place of the Group B standings at 4-5, Clark looks to be a big addition for the team moving forward.
