Team Needs:
It’s fair to say that in 2015 the Indiana Fever exceeded expectations with a trip to the WNBA Finals, which went a full five games before Indiana fell to the now three-time champion Minnesota Lynx. The storyline all season for the Fever will revolve around their best player and emotional leader, Tamika Catchings, playing in her final season after showing she still has plenty left in the tank by willing her team to the brink of a title.

Statistically the Fever had the fewest blocks per game in the league (2.9) and second fewest defensive rebounds (22.7 and 20.9 in the Playoffs, which was the fewest) so a center who can defend and rebound would be a logical pick, especially coming off Sylvia Fowles’ dominant Finals performance. Indiana is invested in former first-round pick Natalie Achonwa, who will look to build on her first full season in the WNBA. Still, adding frontcourt depth will become even more of a priority once Catchings retires.

Indiana led the league in three-point percentage (36%), but had the second fewest assists per game (14.9). Drafting a potential backup guard with ball handling skills and court vision would help Briann January and Shenise Johnson get more looks from three-point range, where both players already set career highs in three-point percentage (41.3% for Johnson and 43.1% for January). With one more year of the Catchings ever left, the Fever will look to go all-in and capture their second WNBA championship as a franchise.
