With the first pick in the 2011 WNBA Draft, the Minnesota Lynx selected forward Maya Moore, who became the second straight – and fourth overall – No. 1 overall pick to hail from the University of Connecticut.

The two-time NCAA champion and four-time First Team All-American made an immediate impact in the WNBA, winning Rookie of the Year honors after averaging 13.2 points, 4.6 assists, 2.6 assists and 1.4 steals while starting all 34 games for Minnesota.

Propelled by the addition of Moore, the return of a healthy Seimone Augustus and outstanding play from All-WNBA First Team point guard Lindsay Whalen, the Lynx went from 13-21 in 2010 to league-leading 27-7 in 2011. The Lynx entered the playoffs as the top seed in the West and lost just one game on their way to capturing their first-ever WNBA title.

Moore has continued to improved through the first five seasons of her pro career, becoming the primary figure on a talent-rich Lynx team. After earning All-WNBA Second Team honors in her sophomore season, Moore would capture First Team honors in each of the next three seasons.

She was named Finals MVP after Minnesota’s second championship run in 2013 and followed that up with her first regular season MVP award the following season, after averaging career-highs of 23.9 points (league-leader), 8.1 rebounds and 1.9 steals as the Lynx finished 25-9 before falling in the West Finals.

In 2015, Moore added another new piece of hardware to her trophy case as she was named MVP of the 2015 WNBA All-Star Game. After finishing second in the regular season MVP voting, Moore helped lead the Lynx to their third championship in five years.
