#RoarWithUs: Lynx Hold on to Take Game 1 of West Finals

The WNBA’s marquee rivalry lived up to the hype once again as the Minnesota Lynx and Phoenix Mercury opened their third straight Western Conference Finals with a defensive battle.
The Lynx came out on top, taking care of business as they almost always do: Minnesota improved to 19-2 all-time at home in the postseason and 91-13 at home overall since 2011.
#WNBADraftLottery: Seattle Storm Win No. 1 Pick in 2016 Draft

The ping-pong balls bounced in Seattle’s favor once again on Thursday night in Bristol, Conn., where the Storm won the WNBA Draft Lottery for the second straight year.
The fortunate result — this is the fourth time the Storm had the best chances for the No. 1 pick and the fourth time they’ve won it — presumably puts the Storm in position to draft consensus top prospect Breanna Stewart out of UConn next April.

Even before the Lottery, Thursday was another reminder that the future looks bright in Seattle.
Guard Jewell Loyd, the Storm’s No. 1 pick in last year’s WNBA Draft, became the franchise’s first player ever to earn Rookie of the Year honors earlier in the day.

After an impressive win in Game 1, the Liberty have positioned themselves to have two shots at advancing to the WNBA Finals for the first time in 13 years.
Their first shot comes on Sunday in Indiana (ESPN & WatchESPN, 1 PM ET). New York was the best road team in the league this season at 11-6.

There is never a time to count a Tamika Catchings-led team out, and the Fever already proved in the first round that they can rally from a 1-0 series deficit.
Indiana’s playoff life will be on the line once again when the Fever return to Bankers Life Fieldhouse for Game 2. They will have to figure out a way to slow down New York’s frontcourt tandem of Tina Charles and Kiah Stokes while generating better looks on the offensive end.
#TogetherWeWILL: “Resilient” Mercury Look to Bounce Back
Following a game in which they allowed 13 offensive rebounds, coach Sandy Brondello’s defending champs vowed to be more aggressive in Sunday’s Game 2.
Fortunately, a return home — where Phoenix is 39-14 over the last three seasons — could provide just the jolt the Mercury need to force a Game 3.
"This team will respond. We're a resilient bunch." – Brondello on Game 2 #MercAtLynx

It’s setting up to be a huge Sunday in the WNBA.
The Conference Finals hit ESPN on Sunday afternoon with the Game 2s running back-to-back.

#NBAFamily: Paul George, Tyson Chandler Offer Fans Free Tickets
Sunday’s hosts are both getting an assist from their NBA brothers.
The Pacers’ Paul George, C.J. Miles and Frank Vogel purchased 500 tickets each and distributed them to lucky fans on Friday.

#HistoryWatch: Chasing and Breaking Postseason Records
With her dominant, 19-rebound Game 1 performance, Lynx forward Rebekkah Brunson passed Taj McWilliams-Franklin as the all-time postseason leader in offensive rebounds (137).
Tamika Catchings seems to set a playoff record every day. She’s now the all-time leader in playoff minutes played (2,053) and is five games away from becoming the all-time leader in playoff games played, in addition to being: first in rebounds, steals and free throws; second in assists (38 away from first); third in field goals made (10 away from second); and seventh in blocks (four away from sixth) and blocks (four away from sixth).
