#RoarLikeAChampion: Lynx Win Third Title in Five Years

#RoarWithUs became #RoarLikeAChampion at just past 9 o’clock in Minneapolis last night.

Minnesota’s rallying cry rung true in the end — no one in the league could roar like the Lynx or the fans that packed the Target Center once again on Wednesday night. The Lynx took command of the winner-take-all Game 5 from the jump, emerging with a 69-52 victory that was defined by their suffocating defense.

Let the dynasty talk begin.

#PurpleReign: Prince Throws Concert/Party to Honor the Champs

The most famous Lynx fan continued the celebration into the night in his hometown of Minneapolis, as Prince moved the party to nearby Paisley Park. The pop icon, who attended the game, performed for three hours before an audience that included the recently crowned champions.

#MayaClinic: Legend of Maya Moore Continues to Grow

431-59.

That’s Maya Moore’s record over the nine basketball seasons she’s played in the U.S. since high school (she’s won some more in international competition, as well).

A young yet already blossoming legacy built around winning will only grow as she adds a third ring to her finger after just five years as a pro.

Moore, who doubles as one of the game’s most engaging personalities, celebrated in style.

#MVP: Sylvia Fowles Rediscovers Dominance, Takes Home MVP Honors

Ask Sylvia Fowles if in mid-July she thought she would be standing at halfcourt of the Target Center with blue and white confetti all around her by mid-October, the answer would’ve been: probably not.

Ask Fowles if she thought she’d be hoisting two separate trophies within a five-minute span that same night? Get out of here. But if that were but a dream for Fowles at the time, now it’s a reality.

#WeAreFever: Indiana Enjoys Outpouring of Support in Defeat

Few if anyone outside of Indiana expected the Fever to be in the position they were in on Wednesday night, one win away from a WNBA championship. The resilient group finally ran out of steam, but not before an inspirational run that the city celebrated once the team returned Thursday morning.

Everyone from the mayor to Reggie Miller offered their congratulations to the runners-up.

Champagne dripped from the locker room walls as the Minnesota Lynx celebrated their third WNBA title in five years. Jubilation beamed on the faces of every player, coach and member of the organization.

And as the cheers rang out and the cries of joy echoed down the hallway, in walked Fever forward Tamika Catchings. On the heels of her press conference after a crushing loss in a winner-take-all Game 5, one of the league’s all-time great players entered the Lynx locker room with a smile on her face.

“Congratulations, you guys,” Catchings said with her arms raised in the air. “I love you guys.”
