#WNBATopPlays: Early Candidates for “Play of the Year”
Seattle witnessed two of the most exciting plays of the early season over the weekend, though the home team was on the wrong end of the second one.
First Jewell Loyd and Breanna Stewart showed why the Storm will be the team to watch for the next decade as the league’s top young duo paired up on an alley-oop during Friday’s win over the Mercury.

Then Kiah Stokes rejected Stewart’s drive to the basket during Seattle’s loss to the Liberty on Sunday with one of the most incredible blocks you will see in a WNBA game.

#GoSparks: L.A. Establishes Itself As Title Contender
Despite having six former All-Stars on their roster, Sparks never found their rhythm a year ago in compiling a 14-20 record. This season has been a much different story.
Let L.A. legend and Sparks owner Magic Johnson tell the story of what has made the Sparks so good:
My @LA_Sparks are 7-0 because of our defense, teamwork, 3pt shooting and Candace Parker has been playing like the best player in the league!

#RWTD: Meet the Surprising Eastern Conference Leaders
Prognosticators expected the Dream to repeat 2016’s result and finish outside of the Eastern Conference Playoff picture this season. Instead Atlanta sits atop the East at 6-2.

#WNBARooks: Trending Upward
While Stewart helped the Storm to another win over the Mercury, fellow rookies Moriah Jefferson, Tiffany Mitchell and Aerial Powers each continued their strong starts with career-high scoring efforts over the weekend.
Rookie Report: More on Mitchell’s Impact
But it’s the Rookie of the Year from last season that has taken the biggest leap forward. Two weeks after scoring a career-high 30 and hitting the game-winning bucket against the Mercury, Loyd topped that with 32 in another victory over Phoenix.
Career-high 32 from Jewell Loyd lifts the surging @SeattleStorm over the @PhoenixMercury, 95-81. #WatchMeWorkhttps://t.co/nqpC4Jx5Fo
