#RTWD: Dream Stop Sparks’ Hunt For History

Seeking the best start to a season in WNBA history, the Los Angeles Sparks came up short on the road against the Atlanta Dream on Sunday. With their 91-74 defeat, the Sparks dropped to 20-2 on the season and were also handed their first road loss of the year after winning a record nine straight to begin the campaign.


#WNBA20: Sparks Tie Best Start In History

On the bright side, the Sparks still matched the 1998 Houston Comets for the best start to a season in WNBA history at 20-1.

#RedefinePossible: Delle-Donne’s Heroics in Seattle, Milestone

Chicago Sky forward Elena Delle Donne continued her incredible season on Sunday, nailing this game-winner in Seattle to top the Storm:

After an all-time great with the Seattle Storm, Lauren Jackson finally saw her No. 15 rise to the rafters.

#Primetime: Sparks vs. Fever, Tuesday on ESPN 2 (8 PM ET)

The Sparks will look to get back in the win column against the Fever on Tuesday night at 8 pm ET.

They are still in play to break the WNBA’s record of 29 wins in a season, set in 2014 by the Phoenix Mercury.


#ICYMI: Stewart, Moore Win Big at ESPYs

The WNBA was well-represented at the ESPYs, with Seattle Storm rookie sensation Breanna Stewart capturing Best Female Athlete and Best Female College Athlete and Minnesota Lynx forward Maya Moore capturing Best WNBA Athlete.

Stewart also used her time on stage wisely, speaking out about gender equality in women’s sports.


#GoSparks: Nneka Performing at Historic Level

Sparks forward Nneka Ogwumike may be the WNBA’s leading MVP candidate heading into the Olympic Break. In her fifth season, she’s shooting 71% from the field — which would be a record for a full season — while ranking fourth in scoring (19.5 PPG) and third in rebounding (8.7 RPG).

#RoadToRio: The Olympic Break Starts Saturday

Friday marks the last slate of WNBA games until August 26, as the league will take a break to pause for the Olympics in Rio. Twelve of the WNBA’s top stars will suit up for the U.S. Women’s National Team in search of its sixth straight gold medal.
