Top Breakout Players of the 2016 Season

- After shooting a career-high 55.6 percent overall last season, Meesseman is lighting up the three-point line this year, hitting a WNBA-best 55.3 percent to go with 15.7 points per game.
- In only her second season following a trade from Connecticut, Williams ranks tied for second in the WNBA with 34.1 minutes per game, way up from her 11.7 last year. She’s made them count, posting 11.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.4 blocks — second in the WNBA behind only Brittney Griner — in 25 starts.
- Dearica Hamby’s sophomore year has seen her average 9.7 points and 5.3 rebounds, as well as up her shooting efficiency by 7.5 percent. Kayla Alexander’s 7.9 points are a career best, an easy feat given her 55.4 field-goal percentage.
- The Storm forward has elevated her game across the board this season. Clark is posting career-bests in points (9.0), assists (1.7), three-point shooting (40.3 percent) and free-throw efficiency (85.7 percent). On June 5th against the Liberty, she racked up a career-best 23 points, going 7-7 from the field.
- The 2016 season has been sweet to Sugar, as evidenced by her 14.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists, all career-highs. Most impressively, she’s spaced the Liberty’s offense with 43.5 shooting from deep, stepping up in Epiphanny Prince’s injury absence.
- Entering 2016 with only seven career starts, Hill has more than tripled that total this season. Along the way, she’s averaging highs in points (14.7), rebounds and assists (2.9), steals (1.1), and minutes (28.9).
- Layshia Clarendon’s improved her all-around game with highs in points (11.3), rebounds (4.3), and assists (3.0), hitting 48.3 percent from the field after coming over from Indiana. Tiffany Hayes has scored with ease this season, paving the way for her career-high 14.5 points, peaking with 32 points against the Sparks on 11-18 overall (3-5 3PT).
- The Sky guard’s 4.8 assists per game rank behind only the likes of Sue Bird (6.0) and Candace Parker (5.1). Against Parker’s WNBA-best Sparks, Faulkner posted 17 points, 10 assists and nailed 7-11 from the field.
