Sparks Sign Bria Holmes

Los Angeles Sparks Official Release

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Sparks announced today the signing of Bria Holmes. The 6-foot-3 guard/wing was drafted No. 11 overall in 2016 by the Atlanta Dream and most recently was a member of the Connecticut Sun. In four seasons, Holmes has career averages of 6.8 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.

“Bria Holmes is a competitor who puts pressure on the rim, defends with intensity, and provides us with youth, size, and athleticism as both a shooting guard and small forward,” General Manager/Head Coach Derek Fisher said. “Bria also brings experience having played meaningful minutes in the WNBA Finals and playoffs. Our staff is excited to welcome her to Los Angeles and we look forward to working with her on and off the court.”

Holmes played in 2016 and 2017 for the Dream, appearing in 65 games and starting 23. Prior to the 2018 season, the Sun acquired Holmes for two second-round picks. After missing 2018 due to pregnancy, Holmes appeared in all 34 regular season games for Connecticut in 2019, as well as all eight playoff games as the Sun made a trip to the WNBA Finals. In 2020, she appeared in 18 games for the Sun, starting four.

“I am truly thankful for this opportunity and to the Sparks for believing in me,” Holmes said. “I’m ready to compete and begin this new chapter with such an iconic organization. I’m looking forward to working with my new teammates, coaches and the entire Sparks family.”

Holmes attended West Virginia University and is from New Haven, Connecticut. The Sparks and the WNBA will celebrate their 25th anniversary season in 2021.
