The L.A. Sparks officially signed Ann Wauters, who has been out of the WNBA since 2012 with the Seattle Storm.
Stand 6-foot-4, the 35-year old Wauters, has enjoyed a successful WNBA career. In 2005, she averaged 13.7 points (54.1 percent overall) and 6.6 rebounds in 2005, earning her only All-Star selection. Following a two-year absence, the Belgian center followed up her breakout season with averages of 14.7 points (a career-high) and 7.5 rebounds in 2008 as a San Antonio Star.
With the Sparks, Wauters plans to anchor the frontcourt with 2-time MVP Candace Parker, coming off averages of 19.4 points and a career-best 10.1 rebounds.
The Sparks went 14-20 last season, earning a fourth-straight playoff berth.
