Huskies go 1, 2, as the San Antonio Stars have selected Moriah Jefferson with the second pick.

There it is, with the Connecticut Sun’s selection of Morgan Tuck, the top three picks in the 2016 WNBA Draft are all UConn Huskies. This is the first time in league history that one school has had the top three picks.

The Sun are right back on the board with the number four pick, and they’ve selected the Minnesota Mamba, Rachel Banham.

The Dallas Wings are preparing for their inaugural season in Texas, and with their first ever pick they’ve selected Aerial Powers out of Michigan State.

The Los Angeles Sparks have plenty of talent already on board, and now they’ve added Jonquel Jones out of George Washington with the sixth pick.

Moving on to the second half of the first round, the Washington Mystics bolster their roster with Rutgers’ Kahleah Copper.

Fresh off a trip to the Western Conference Finals, the Phoenix Mercury take Courtney Williams out of South Florida with the eighth overall pick.

The Indiana Fever made a run to the WNBA Finals last year, and they hope Tiffany Mitchell can help them do it again this season. They made the former South Carolina star the number nine overall pick.

The Chicago Sky are next on the clock, and they’ve decided to bolster their frontcourt with Texas’ Imani Boyette. The 6’7″ center is the daughter of former WNBA star Pam McGee.

Next up is the Atlanta Dream, and with the 11th pick they’ve decided to add West Virginia’s Bria Holmes.

And last but not least, it’s the New York Liberty closing out the first round. Coming off a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals, the Liberty make Adut Bulgak the 12th overall pick.

Trade Alert:

The Connecticut Sun have acquired Jonquel Jones, and now have three of the top six picks in this year’s draft!

Okay, now that the first round is over, let’s check out what the newest members of the WNBA family were up to in the social booth after the draft.

Don’t think they’re going to allow Courtney’s new glasses on the court.

Scouting Report:

Tiffany Mitchell – South Carolina

Strengths: Selfie game

Jonquel Jones rocks the blue and yellow well, which is good news, because she’s staying in town as the newest member of the Connecticut Sun.

The season doesn’t start for another month, but Courtney Walker is already ready to put in work.

Moriah Jefferson’s swagger is on a hundred thousand trillion.

That’s a wrap from here in Connecticut. See you all in a few weeks when the preseason schedule gets underway.
