Rookie Report in Photos

- The first overall pick in this year’s draft, Storm guard Jewell Loyd seems to be on track after an up-and-down start to the season, including a career-high 21 points June 28. The Notre Dame alumna should continue her scoring surge.
- Sixth overall pick Dearica Hamby has made an instant impact on a young San Antonio team. Wake Forest’s all-time leader in points and rebounds—and the first Demon Deacon ever to be drafted—is averaging 9.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
- It’s hard to argue that any rookie is making more of an impact on both sides of the ball than Liberty center Kiah Stokes. The former Husky has averaged more minutes (24.1), rebounds (6.3) and blocks (2.0) than any other rookie and notched her first double-double June 30.
- Natalie Achonwa, the Notre Dame alumna who missed last season after tearing her ACL, has remained a consistently bright spot for the Fever, averaging 10.2 rebounds and 4.6 rebounds per game.
- The 11th pick in the 2014 WNBA Draft, Chelsea Gray was forced to sit out last season due to a knee injury she suffered at Duke. Connecticut’s electric point guard is shooting 58 percent from beyond the arc and is leading all rookies in steals in just over 16 minutes per game.
- Seattle forward Ramu Tokashiki, a four-time MVP in the Women’s Japan Basketball League, is heating up after a slow start to the year. After hitting only eight of her first 29 shot attempts, Tokashiki has connected on 23 of her last 38.
