Road To Rio: Team USA Opens Practice in Los Angeles

The U.S. Women’s National Team is officially journeying to Rio, beginning with the team’s first practice. Headlined by MVP candidates Tina Charles and Maya Moore, future Hall of Famers Diana Taurasi, Sue Bird and Tamika Catchings, and rookie sensation Breanna Stewart, Team USA is seeking a sixth straight gold. They’re led by UConn head coach and 11-time NCAA national champion, Geno Auriemma, who led the squad to gold in 2012.

In 2012, Team USA led all countries in scoring, field-goal percentage, defensive field-goal percentage, rebounding, defensive rebounding, rebounding margin, blocks, assists, steals and assists-to-turnover ratio.
