NEW YORK, Aug. 26, 2013 -- Elena Delle Donne of the Chicago Sky and Maya Moore of the Minnesota Lynx were named the WNBAs Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, Aug. 19 through Sunday, Aug. 25.
Delle Donne averaged 20.0 points and 6.3 rebounds last week, helping Chicago to a 3-0 record and its first playoff berth in the franchises eight-year history. This is Delle Donnes fourth Player of the Week award.
Moores 25.0 ppg last week were a league-high as Minnesota went 2-1 to remain atop the Western Conference. This marks her fourth career Player of the Week award, and second this season.
Other candidates for WNBA Players of the Week were Atlantas Erika de Souza, Chicagos Sylvia Fowles, Indianas Tamika Catchings and New Yorks Plenette Pierson in the East, as well as Los Angeles Candace Parker and Nneka Ogwumike, Phoenixs Diana Taurasi, San Antonios Shenise Johnson and Tulsas Elizabeth Cambage in the West
