Maya Moore's Championship Timeline
There are few greater classifications of an athlete than referring to them as a “winner” and Maya Moore has won everywhere she’s ever been, at a staggering rate. It doesn’t matter if it’s been the Far East or the Big East, Moore has the uncanny ability to be the last one standing.
Earlier this month, Moore wrapped up her third consecutive title in the Women’s Chinese Basketball Association. This capped off a summer that also saw Moore win MVP of the FIBA World Championship where her and the rest of the U.S. Women’s National Team earned gold.
To put her greatness into content, take a look at the below timeline of Moore’s recent triumphs.
April, 2009: NCAA Championship (UConn)
A decorated high school athlete including three state titles, Maya was quick to extend her winning ways to college. As a sophomore, Maya helped lead UConn to an incredible 39-0 record and, of course, a national title.
April, 2010: NCAA Championship (UConn)
UConn’s dominance continued the next season as Moore and the Huskies again went 39-0 and won the championship, one of the most dominant streaks in women’s NCAA history.
October, 2010: FIBA World Championship (USA)
Six months after winning her second NCAA title, Maya won her first FIBA World Championship for Women with the U.S. National Team, this time in the Czech Republic.
October, 2011: WNBA Championship (Minnesota Lynx)
As you might expect, Maya made an immediate impact in the WNBA, winning Rookie of the Year and playing a key role in Minnesota’s first-ever championship in the same season.
April, 2012: EuroLeague Women Championship (Ros Casares Valencia)
The EuroLeague Championship is the most coveted club title in all of Europe and Maya added this crown to her resume when she helped Ros Casares to a title in Istanbul.
August, 2012: Olympic Gold Medal (USA)
Perhaps the highest achievement in sports, Maya added an Olympic Gold Medal to her resume when the USA reached the highest podium in London.
October, 2013: WNBA Championship (Minnesota Lynx)
After losing to Indiana in the 2012 WNBA Finals, Moore put Minnesota back on top, this time taking home WNBA Finals MVP honors en route to a second WNBA title.
February, 2013: WCBA Championship (Shanxi Xing Rui Flame)
In Shanxi’s first season in top flight WCBA ball, Maya led her squad to a title, besting Liz Cambage and Zhejiang for the title. With this, you can add another continent to Maya’s conquests.
March, 2014: WCBA Championship (Shanxi Xing Rui Flame)
One of the toughest tasks in sports is to repeat as champion, but that’s exactly what Maya and Shanxi did the following season, again topping Cambage — this time playing with Beijing — in the final.
October, 2014: FIBA World Championship (USA)
The U.S. Women’s National Team continued its dominance of the FIBA World Championship for Women with a historic run in Turkey. Maya was named MVP and the USA earned another spot atop the podium.
March, 2015: WCBA Championship (Shanxi Xing Rui Flame)
Moore added an iconic three-peat to her international resume by winning her third straight WCBA title with Shanxi, this time defeating a Beijing team that featured newly crowned WNBA champion Brittney Griner.
