What They’re Saying About The Game of the Year

The matchup WNBA fans have been waiting for is finally here: Minnesota Lynx vs. Los Angeles Sparks on NBA TV (3:30 PM ET).

Both teams head into the game undefeated more than a month into the 2016 season. And both sides played it cool when asked about Tuesday. The next-most hyped game of the year comes Friday: Lynx-Sparks Round 2, this time in Minnesota.

Maya Moore, Guard, Minnesota Lynx: “A championship is not going to be won or lost with this game. But at the same time, how great of a scenario for two competitive teams to go out and play and really make a statement with our performances.”

Nneka Ogwumike, Forward, Los Angeles Sparks: “In all honestly, actually, I haven’t really thought about this game any more than how special it is for two teams to be doing this in such a special year for the WNBA.”

Cheryl Reeve, Head Coach, Minnesota Lynx: “More than anything, Nneka has really put herself in a position to get easy opportunities to score the ball. Nneka’s playing at a high level for sure. … Shooting [69] percent, that’s really, really impressive and we have our hands full.”

Brian Agler, Head Coach, Los Angeles Sparks: “We don’t look too far down the line. We know we can’t win a championship today, we won’t win a championship tomorrow, we won’t win a championship on Wednesday. But we can take a step forward each and every day.”
