What to Watch For: L.A. Sparks vs. Chicago Sky on ESPN 2

The Windy City will play host to a star-studded matchup between the Sparks and Sky Tuesday night on ESPN 2 (7 PM ET). Before tip-off, let’s examine the most critical points for the showdown:

1. Candace Parker, Triple Threat

Candace Parker has quickly found her form early this season. She’s impacted every column in the box score, averaging 18.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 2.3 steals, and 1.3 blocks. Adding to that? 46 percent shooting on 13 three-point attempts. The three-time All-Star’s production has paved the way for L.A.’s first 3-0 start since 2003, when they last made the Western Conference Finals behind Lisa Leslie. L.A. will need Parker at her best, with reigning MVP Elena Delle Donne standing across the court.

2. EDD Can Do It All, Too

Speaking of Delle Donne, she’s also started her 2016 season in fine form. Averaging 22.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks, the 2015 MVP has picked up where she left off in her first two games of 2016. If Chicago is to avoid a 1-3 start, Delle Donne will likely need to match Parker’s output and more, especially against the Sparks’ league-leading offense (90.7 points per game).

3. Clean the Glass

Controlling the boards will be key for both teams. Chicago owns the league’s best rebounding percentage through three games, sitting atop the league with 12.7 offensive boards per game. If that trend holds, the Sky can more easily control the tempo and take advantage of second-chance points. The Sparks are averaging a league-low 11.0 turnovers per game, so both teams have been able to maximize possessions.
