Field goal percentage is one of the most straightforward statistics one could use to see who is dominating as a shooter. In the WNBA, it’s a stat that often favors post players who are adept at finding mismatches in the paint, allowing them to get easy looks at the basket and increase their efficiency over time. 
This season, we’re already seeing a few players buck that trend. And, it’s lending itself as a perfect tool to use when arguing for and against All-Star cases. 
Let’s get into the top five players in the WNBA in shooting efficiency, and let’s take a good look at how these players are getting the bulk of their shots up so far this year. We’ll only be picking from players who are attempting about 10 shots per game, which makes them focal points of their respective offenses.

Gray is currently having the best season of her career. The Atlanta Dream guard has been the teams’ go-to for offense, hitting 50.6 percent of her shots so far this season. She’s attempting 13.0 shots per game for the Dream, which is the <a href="https://stats.wnba.com/team/1611661330/players-traditional/?sort=FGA&amp;dir=1">second-most attempted per game</a> on the team behind Rhyne Howard. 
What’s making Gray’s season truly special as a shooter is the way she’s getting her shots. She’s taking the most three pointers she’s ever attempted in her career, and she’s hitting them at a clip of 42.3 percent. Most of her shots are coming from deep, and that’s just not something she’s ever been empowered to do while with Atlanta. 
Head coach Karl Smesko, who came in looking to place more emphasis on spacing the floor in a two-big lineup with as many threes chucked as possible, is seeing the benefit of that mindset on offense through Gray. She’s Atlanta’s best player this season so far, and a shoo-in for Most Improved Player consideration. 
Dearica Hamby 
While the Los Angeles Sparks’ losing record might place a hindrance on Hamby’s ability to make her fourth career All-Star appearance, it’s worth mentioning that she &#8211; alongside Kelsey Plum and Azurá Stevens &#8211; has been a force for LA’s offense this season. She’s attempting 12.1 shots per game and hitting them at a clip of 51.6 percent from the field, which is second-most on the team behind Plum. 
Hamby’s always capable of getting going with her post game. Her shots are most frequently coming from the paint, with 67.9 percent of her points falling from there. From less than five feet from the basket, she’s taking the most shots of anyone in the league with an average of 8.5 shots from that distance per game. 
Hamby’s been a great compliment to Plum so far this season for the Sparks, but they’ve been unable to take advantage of both her and Plum’s skill sets as scorers consistently. If they did do that before All-Star voting is closed, Hamby could feasibly make a push for a spot on the team. 
Alyssa Thomas

We can’t have a discussion about engines in the WNBA without including the actual “Engine.” Thomas has had some injury woes to begin the year for the Phoenix Mercury, but when she’s on the floor, her impact is undeniable on offense. She’s one of the league’s best finishers, hitting 52.5 percent of her shots and attempting 11.4 per game. Thomas’ offensive output is more impressive when considering she really never attempts much from outside the restricted area due to a lingering shoulder injury in both arms. 
The fact that she’s hitting most of her shots from the paint when she’s often undersized in matchups down low is beyond impressive. Her strength is her calling card, though, so her efficiency in the post despite her height disadvantage might not be too surprising. 
The passing is what you likely think of when thinking of Thomas’ role with any team she’s on &#8211; after all, she’s also averaging nine assists per game for the Mercury, which is a career-high for her. But, her efficiency is what really stands out for a Phoenix team that’s shocking the league with their well-rounded attack between Thomas, Satou Sabally, several rookies, and now a healthy Kahleah Copper. 
Breanna Stewart
Stewart is having another high-impact year for the New York Liberty despite a major load being taken off of her on a roster featuring Jonquel Jones, Sabrina Ionescu, Leonie Fiebich, and Natasha Cloud. She’s attempting 12.5 shots per game and hitting those at a clip of 51.8 percent from the field, which reflects her impact on the Liberty’s post and midrange scoring. 
Unlike her post player counterpart in Hamby, Stewart has a fairly balanced shot diet featuring her rim finishing and a short jumper she can break out a bit farther away from the basket. She’s a lot more efficient when finishing, but is also shooting 50 percent from 15-19 feet away from the hoop. 
Stewart hasn’t been contributing much by way of three point shooting over the last several years, but her size and speed give her a major advantage as a finisher for New York. Her 78.4 percent shooting from the rim is proof of that. While she’s not the player taking the most shots on the Liberty &#8211; that honor goes to Ionescu &#8211; she’s making the most of her shots. She’s the Liberty’s most efficient scorer on 10 or more attempts per game. 
Napheesa Collier

You simply can’t speak about efficient shooting in the WNBA without mentioning Collier. The Minnesota Lynx are having the best season of any team in the league in large thanks to her well-rounded shooting, as she’s attempting a whopping 17.2 shots per game and hitting them at a 52.4 percent efficiency. Again, unlike other bigs in the league, she’s hitting her shots efficiently from everywhere. 
Collier is hitting 55.6 percent from 25-29 feet out, 53.3 percent from 10-14 feet, 48.2 percent from 5-9 feet, and 66.0 percent from less than five feet. In short, she’s been unstoppable as a shooter who has a size advantage on nearly anyone willing to step out of the paint and into space with her. 
It’s no wonder that Collier is dominating the MVP debate right now. To have a forward so proficient as a scorer at all three levels is terrifying for opposing defenses to handle, and it’s what makes her an obvious All-Star headed into this year’s events.

The WNBA’s Engines: Top Players in Offensive Efficiency

Before we dive into this week’s Power Rankings, let&#8217;s set the stage for tomorrow’s six-game extravaganza on the final night of Commissioner’s Cup group phase.
While Phoenix has wrapped up group play (4-2, 2nd in West), the 12 remaining teams will all be in action to determine which two teams will compete in the Championship Game on July 30.
&nbsp;
Here’s what we know in the West:
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">The Lynx (4-1) control their own destiny. A win would give them five Cup victories, which no other team in the West can match, and punch their ticket to return to the title game to attempt to become the first team to win back-to-back Cups.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">A Lynx loss could open the door for the and Storm (3-2).</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Minnesota would win a two-team tiebreaker with Phoenix, but wins by Golden State and/or Seattle would <a href="https://www.wnba.com/commissioners-cup/2025/about-the-cup">create a multi-team tiebreaker</a> to decide the West.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">The Sparks (2-3), Aces (2-3) and Wings (0-5) have all been eliminated from contention but will play a key role in deciding which team advances as they are Tuesday&#8217;s opponents for the Storm, Lynx and Valkyries, respectively.</li>
</ul>

Here’s what we know in the East: 
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">The Dream, Fever and Liberty all enter the final day of group play tied at 3-1 and the only teams with a shot to represent the East in the title game.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">The Mystics, Sky and Sun are all 1-3 and eliminated from contention.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">The biggest game of the night is Dream at Liberty. The stakes are simple. A loss for either team means they’re out.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">A Dream win clinches the East berth regardless of the Fever-Sun result (if IND wins, both IND and ATL will be 4-1 and ATL holds head-to-head Cup tiebreaker).</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">A Liberty win coupled with a Fever loss would clinch the East for New York.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">A Liberty win coupled with a Fever win would clinch the East for Indiana (as they hold the head-to-head Cup tiebreaker).</li>

We’ll see their response Tuesday night in the Cup group play finale against our next team in the rankings – the 8-3 Dream.

The Dream haven’t just won three straight – they’ve won all three games by 18+ points. Allisha Gray has led the way, averaging 23.3 points on 60% shooting during the streak.

Here’s a scary thought for the 12 teams in the WNBA outside of Phoenix – the Mercury are 8-4 through 12 games and are just getting their full rotation healthy and on the court together. On Wednesday, Alyssa Thomas returned from a five-game absence while Natasha Mack made her season debut. On Sunday, Kahleah Copper made her season debut after leading Phoenix in scoring last season.

The Fever went 2-3 without Caitlin Clark during her five-game absence with a quad injury. She returned on Saturday – inside a raucous Gainbridge Fieldhouse – as the Fever posted a season-high 102 points and handed the defending champion Liberty their first loss of the season. How did Clark fare in her first game back? How about season-highs of 32 points and seven 3s.

The Storm opened the week with an impressive win over the then unbeaten Lynx – capped Erica Wheeler’s dagger 3 and an emotional postgame interview. However, Seattle couldn’t build off the win as they followed it up with a loss to the Valkyries to snap a three-game win streak in a game that saw Seattle post its second-worst shooting performance (40.8%) of the season.

This year will bring a lot of firsts for the Valkyries in their debut WNBA season. This week, we’ve seen their first-ever three-game win streak – with wins over the Aces, Sparks and Storm – to lift Golden State three spots in the power rankings. Kayla Thornton has scored 18+ points in each game of the streak as she continues to put up career-best numbers (14.4 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 1.9 spg) in her 10th WNBA season.

8. Las Vegas Aces (5-5 Overall; 2-3 Cup) ⬇️

The Aces got hit with a double whammy when they opened last week against the Sparks – a 98-79 loss despite a season-high 34 points from Jackie Young, and the loss of A’ja Wilson, who entered concussion protocol after a hit to the head. Las Vegas split its first two games without the three-time MVP, but will need Wilson back soon to get their season back on track.

After dropping her first return game to Las Vegas back on May 30, Kelsey Plum got her first win against her former team on Wednesday night – posting 13 points and nine assists. However, that would be L.A.’s only win of the week as it was surrounded by losses to Golden State and Minnesota. Keep an eye on Plum’s playmaking – the Sparks are 4-2 when he has 8+ assists and 0-6 when he dishes fewer than 8 dimes.

10. Washington Mystics (4-7 Overall; 1-3 Cup)

In a June 8 win over Connecticut, the Mystics put up their most points (104) in two seasons and highest FG% (57.1%) in six seasons. Washington had to wait a full week before taking the court again, and scored a season-low 56 points. Keeping up with the rookie watch, both Kiki Iriafen (13.8 ppg, 9.3 rpg) and Sonia Citron (13.4 ppg 4.2 rpg) continue to shine in their debut seasons.

Powered by Angel Reese’s first career triple-double (11 pts, 15 ast, 11 ast), the Sky earned a much-needed win over the Sun on Sunday to snap a three-game slide. As Chicago looks to rise up the standings (and these rankings) over the upcoming weeks, they’ve planned ceremonies to rise up the numbers belonging to Allie Quigley (#14 on July 9) and Candace Parker (#3, Aug. 25) to the rafters.

The Women’s National Basketball Players Association (WNBPA) is the union for current women’s professional basketball players in the WNBA. – AT&amp;T WNBA All-Star Game set for Saturday, July 19, and Will Air on ABC in Primetime – 
NEW YORK, June 10, 2025 – WNBA All-Star Voting 2025 presented by Ally will tip off on Thursday, June 12 at 2 p.m. ET and conclude on Saturday, June 28 at 11:59 p.m. ET, giving fans the opportunity to vote for the All-Star starters.
The 2025 AT&amp;T WNBA All-Star Game will be played in Indianapolis at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, home of the Indiana Fever, on Saturday, July 19 on ABC (8:30 p.m. ET).  The game broadcast will be preceded by a half hour edition of WNBA Countdown on ABC (5:00 p.m. PT/8:00 p.m. ET).
Throughout the voting period, fans may submit one full ballot each day via WNBA.com and the WNBA App. All WNBA players currently on team rosters will be available for selection. Three “2-for-1 Days” will allow fans to have their votes count twice on June 14, June 20 and June 27 through WNBA.com and the WNBA App voting platforms. Each “2-for-1 Day” will be designated from midnight ET – 11:59 p.m. ET.
Fans are encouraged to vote for their 2025 WNBA All-Stars for a chance to win a trip to the 2025 AT&amp;T WNBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis*. One Grand Prize winner will receive a 3-day/2-night trip for two, consisting of round-trip coach air transportation, standard double occupancy hotel accommodations, and two tickets to the Kia WNBA Skills Challenge and WNBA STARRY® 3-Point Contest on Friday, July 18, and the AT&amp;T WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday, July 19.
As the WNBA’s newest Changemaker partner, Ally is committed to working alongside the WNBA to enhance opportunities for fans to engage with the league and its stars. Enabling fans to help shape the All-Star rosters is a fitting first activation, and Ally will lend additional support to promoting this opportunity to fans throughout the voting window.
AT&amp;T WNBA All-Star 2025 will feature the league’s biggest and brightest stars selected from across the entire WNBA without regard to conference affiliation.
WNBA players and media will join fans in selecting the All-Star starters. Fans will account for 50 percent of the vote, while all current players and a media panel will account for 25 percent each. Players and media panelists will be able to complete one ballot, featuring four guards and six frontcourt players.
After all votes are tallied, players will be ranked by position (guard and frontcourt) within each of the three voting groups – fan votes, player votes and media votes. Each player’s score will be calculated by averaging their weighted rank from the fan votes, the player votes and the media votes. The four guards and six frontcourt players with the best score will be named as starters for AT&amp;T WNBA All-Star 2025. Fan voting will serve as the tiebreaker for players in a position group with the same score.
After the starters have been determined, the league’s head coaches will select the 12 reserves. The head coaches will vote for three guards, five frontcourt players and four players at either position regardless of conference.  Coaches may not vote for players on their own team. The announcement dates for both the starters and reserves will be shared later this month.
The two All-Star captains – the starters who receive the most fan votes – will then draft their respective rosters by selecting first from the remaining eight players in the pool of starters and then from the pool of 12 reserves. ESPN will broadcast the results of the roster draft for the 2025 AT&amp;T WNBA All-Star Game during an hourlong edition of WNBA Countdown on Tuesday, July 8 (7 p.m. ET).
How to vote:
Fans may vote for a minimum of one player and maximum of 10, through submitting one full ballot per day (defined as once each day between midnight and 11:59PM ET) including the selection of up to four guards and six frontcourt players regardless of conference on both of the following platforms:

The head coaches for the 2025 AT&amp;T WNBA All-Star Game will be the head coaches of the two teams with the best records following games on Friday, July 4, regardless of conference.  The head coach with the best record as of that date will coach the team whose captain earned the most fan votes.
The 2025 AT&amp;T WNBA All-Star Game will be the centerpiece of three full days packed with WNBA activities including the WNBA STARRY® 3-Point Contest and Kia WNBA Skills Challenge, which will air on ESPN on Friday, July 18 at 8 p.m. ET, and “WNBA Live presented by Panini.”
