Last 3 First Round Picks (Pick, Year)

Indiana Fever head coach Lin Dunn led her team to the playoffs every year since she took the job in 2008, including a WNBA title in 2012. The Fever finished second in the Eastern Conference in 2014 — Dunn’s final season before retiring — but fell in the Eastern Conference Finals to the Chicago Sky. With much of the same roster returning in 2015 and Dunn no longer at the helm, longtime assistant Stephanie White now has the job of getting the Fever back to the postseason.
The good news: 13-year veteran Tamika Catchings returns and last year’s first-round pick Natalie Achonwa will make her WNBA debut. The talented guard out of Notre Dame sat out the entire 2014 season while recovering from an ACL injury suffered during the 2013 NCAA Tournament. Adding her to the fold will give the Fever yet another element as they look to bring home another WNBA title.
The Fever don’t have a draft pick in the first round and won’t be on the clock until the late second round, so Achonwa will act as the team’s de facto rookie this year. She was selected ninth overall in 2014.
Much of the team’s core remains the same from the team that won the title in 2012, and Natasha Howard showed flashes of promise during her rookie season last year, so the Fever won’t be relying on this year’s Draft to retool their squad to make another title run with Catchings, who is set to retire at the end of the 2016 season.
