Coleman Quiets Crowd With Clutch Three in Game 1

MINNEAPOLIS – Indiana’s Marissa Coleman had one of the most highlight-worthy plays of the postseason when she drilled a 3-pointer in the middle of a feverish Indiana rally in Game 2 of Eastern Conference Finals. The shot was clutch, but her celebration that ignited the home crowd was even better.

One would think there would be no better feeling than that, but before Game 1 of WNBA Finals 2015 presented by Boost Mobile, Coleman actually said she’d rather hit a big 3-pointer in a road atmosphere to silence the crowd than hit one at home and have the crowd erupt.



“I think silencing the crowd is more fun,” Coleman prophesized, er, said. “Your home crowd is always going to be behind you, but when you can hit that dagger shot and silence the home crowd, that’s a lot fun.”

Coleman got that opportunity on Sunday afternoon and she must have enjoyed it. With 3:57 left — and the surging Lynx clinging to a one-point advantage — Coleman connected on a 3-pointer to give the Fever a lead they would not relinquish. The Fever would go on to win, 75-69.

“It’s fun,” Coleman said. “But ultimately it’s whatever I can do to help my team win and help us try and get this championship.”
