Chicago Sky’s Courtney Vandersloot Sets WNBA Record for Highest Single-Season Assists Average

Chicago Sky point guard Courtney Vandersloot has set the new standard for setting up teammates in the WNBA.

With her eight assists on Sunday, the seven-year vet finished the season at 8.1 per game (218 in 27 games), surpassing Ticha Penicheiro’s previous record (8.0, 2002) for the highest single-season assists average in league history.

Earlier this season, Vandersloot reeled off a record streak of six straight points-assists double-doubles. She finished the season with 12 double-digit assists games in 27 games overall, including a season-high of 14 against the Sparks on July 20.
