ATLANTA (August 27, 2028) — The Atlanta Dream has signed two-time WNBA champion and six-time WNBA All-Star DeWanna Bonner to a rest-of-season contract, the organization announced today.

Bonner joins an Atlanta team that has already secured its fourth consecutive WNBA Playoffs berth and continues its push toward the postseason. The Dream’s starting five of Jordin Canada, Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard, Naz Hillmon and Angel Reese has established itself among the league’s best this season, with Howard, Gray and Reese earning 2026 WNBA All-Star selections and Canada and Hillmon each delivering career seasons. Bonner adds championship pedigree and a wealth of postseason experience to a group preparing for a deep playoff run.

Bonner joins Atlanta in her 17th WNBA season as one of the most accomplished players in league history. A two-time WNBA champion with Phoenix (2009, 2014), Bonner is a six-time All-Star, two-time All-WNBA selection and the only three-time Sixth Player of the Year in WNBA history. She ranks third on the WNBA’s all-time scoring list and is one of just three players in league history to record at least 7,000 points, 3,000 rebounds and 1,000 assists.

The 6-foot-4 forward brings extensive postseason experience to Atlanta, having appeared in 15 WNBA postseasons and four WNBA Finals. Bonner is the WNBA’s all-time postseason rebounds leader and ranks second in playoff history in points and steals. She has appeared in 98 career playoff games, averaging 13.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

Bonner has appeared in 37 games, including 26 starts, this season for Phoenix, averaging 10.6 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. Across her WNBA career, she has played for Phoenix, Connecticut and Indiana, averaging 14.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

A native of Fairfield, Alabama, Bonner starred collegiately at Auburn, where she was named the 2009 SEC Player of the Year and earned First Team All-America honors. She finished her collegiate career as Auburn’s all-time leading scorer, and her No. 24 was retired by the program in 2024. Bonner was selected No. 5 overall by Phoenix in the 2009 WNBA Draft.

In concurrent roster moves, the Dream has waived guards Aaliyah Nye and Jaylyn Sherrod. Sherrod was previously signed to a developmental contract.
