Unbeaten: A Photo View Of The Sparks' Unbeaten Start

- In their season opener the Sparks faced off against heralded number one overall pick, Breanna Stewart. The Sparks spoiled Stewie’s WNBA debut, and Candace Parker burst onto the scene with 34 points in the win.
- Next up it was a cross-country trip to the Nation’s capital and a showdown with the Mystics. Washington proved to be no match for Los Angeles, who were paced by Kristi Tolliver’s 19 points on 7-for-8 shooting from the field.
- Tina Charles and the New Liberty in the Big Apple would prove to be a tough opponent for the Sparks, but nothing that 25 points from Nneka Ogwumike couldn’t overcome.
- The Sparks’ cross-country trip continued with a date with reigning MVP Elena Delle Donne and the Chicago Sky. Los Angeles held EDD to just eight points while Candace Parker led the way for LA with a game-high 26 points.
- The final contest of the Sparks’ early season road-trip saw them travel to Connecticut to take on the Sun. It was a even game but eventually the stellar play of Parker was the difference.
- After two weeks away from the friendly confines of the Staples Center the Sparks returned home to face the San Antonio Stars. Although Kayla McBride dropped 20 for the Stars, three of the five Sparks starters scored in double-figures, and their balanced scoring attack was the key to victory.
- Just 48 hours later it was a rematch of Sparks-Stars, this time in Texas. Just like the last time out it was all about the Sparks’ complete scoring performance. The only difference: Four of the five Sparks starters scored in double-figures.
- For the second meeting of the season between the Liberty and Sparks, the venue was switched from the Big Apple to the bright lights of Hollywood. It was a resounding victory for Los Angeles, which held Tina Charles to a season-low seven points while Jantel Lavender scored 22 points off the bench in the victory.
- Texas was kind to the Sparks earlier in the year against San Antonio and proceedings went even better in Dallas. This win began and ended with Nneka Ogwumike, who went a WNBA-record 12-for-12 from the field for a career-high 32 points. She couldn’t miss and the Sparks cruised.
- History was on the line in Los Angeles when they welcomed the Sky. With a chance to go, 10-0 the Sparks would secure the best start in franchise history, and if not for the Lynx win earlier in the evening, that 10-0 mark would have been the best ever to start a WNBA season. L.A. made no mistake about it — Parker and Ogwumike combined for 44 points and the 2016 Sparks solidified their place in history.
