What Theyre Reading and Listening To

When they are not on the court, WNBA players can almost always be seen reading a book or magazine or listening to music. So naturally, we asked what types of things they are reading and listening to that keeps them entertained, grounded or informed.

The title of a book that I recently read is misleading: The One-Minute Millionaire. It does not mean you can become a millionaire in one minute. It's actually written by two very good financial guys that not only become multi-millionaires, but they trained thousands to become multi-millionaires. So it's basically getting their minds set more than anything - how they're thinking and approaching things, because that's the most important thing is your mindset. What you think is what you get. My all-time favorite book is definitely the Bible. Next to that, the Celestine Prophecy was a very good book. I would recommend that to any and everyone. It's very good. As for magazine, I have to have the Business World, Entrepreneur, Black Enterprise, things like that. I'm the nerdy type. I'm also a music collector. Old school, new school, jazz, classical: I love all types of genres. But Lyfe Jennings right now is a very nice CD. Of course, you know, Kind of Blue by Miles Davis. It's a wonderful CD. When you're going to sleep or something, you want to put on something kind of low key. Gospel music is a must; I have the top gospel CDs. But, if I have those, I'm fine.

Cheryl Ford, Detroit Shock
I like the gossip ones like Us Weekly. I also read books - I recently read a book called Geneva. And, of course, I like my romance novels. For music, random play on the iPod. There are a lot of songs that when I play them, they make me excited and I dance a little bit.

Taj McWilliams-Franklin, Connecticut Sun
I read a lot. I read horror, murder fiction, mystery. Right now I'm reading Conway (the latest one). I'm finishing The Closers and, amazingly, I also read a self-help book on how to speak Korean.

Diana Taurasi, Phoenix Mercury
I usually get Slam, which I love for the articles and photos. I also like People Magazine and Money. I love the features they do on like the top ten wealthiest trashmen or the richest secretaries. For musicm Heavensent, of course, but I'm into old school stuff right now, like U2, the Beatles, Guns-n-Roses, classic rock... in hip hop, it's The Game. And of course, some Kelly Clarkson.

Swin Cash, Detroit Shock
I read a lot of magazines and newspapers. I just love to know what's going on around the world. Essence is one of my favorites, then the gossip magazines. I also love People Magazine.

Lauren Jackson, Seattle Storm
There is a pregame music mix, which is just all hard-core. A lot of Marilyn Manson, too.

Ruth Riley, Detroit Shock
I really don't have any favorites when it comes to music. It depends on what mood I'm in. Anything from gospel to rap to country.

DeMya Walker, Sacramento Monarchs
I'm listening to Bobby Valentino right now. I'm really into the soulful music. Some people listen to the hip hop "Whoo" dancing, to get their blood going. I listen to slow jams before games. I'm high energy, so they kind of get me on an even keel

Ann Wauters, New York Liberty
I like a lot of stuff when it comes to music... A wide variety. When I'm in the States, I listen to R&B. That's what I like the most.
