What the holidays mean to me....

Jermain, Age 9 wrote: Hi my name is Jermain I want to share with you a few reasons and tell you why the holidays mean so much to me and my brother. Let me start with Thanksgiving is wonderful to me. When I wake up in the morning the first thing I smelled was food. I hurry up and run to the kitchen to ask my mom what that really good smell is of course it is the start of the turkey. Me and my brother get to help my mom cook and play video games and watch the parade all day oh and dont let me forget all the chips and dip. MMMM and Christmas oh my goodness the night before or Christmas I cant wait for Santa to come. Me and my brother try really really hard to stay awake to see Santa but it never happens. Once I did see my mom wrapping presents by accident. But I knew Santa was still coming. In the morning me and my brother woke up so so early I know it was early cause it was still dark out. I ran into my moms room with my brother so we can open presents I love the holidays so much I had lots of fun Thanksgiving and Christmas is coming real soon oh ya please tell Santa I have been doing good and trying my best to be a good boy and my brother too.

The holidays are for giving not getting which means you should give more than you get. Spending time with your family means getting to know them. Spend time with family.

Selena, Age 8 wrote: The holidays mean a lot to me because I spend them with my family. Every year, the night before the holiday, we bake pies, cookies, brownies, and other special treats. The day of the holiday I wake up early and help make the big feast for the day. After we eat, we spend time together, play games, and talk about what we did that day, and what the plans are for the next holiday. The best part is being with my family, and not spending the holidays alone.

Cheyenne, Age 7 wrote: To me the holidays mean family. My brother and sister stay extra days at my house. My mom gets to take extra days off from work so that we can spend time together. I am thankful for the holidays. (It is nice to get gifts too).

Meadow, Age 6 wrote: The holidays make me feel happy so I will sing a song about holidays. Winter Spring Summer Fall which one is the best of all? Summer has the hot hot sun, spring has rains so flowers grow, fall has school and friends and fun. Winter has the cold and snow and Christmas too, the best of all.

Adrianna, Age 10 wrote: The holidays make me feel all warm inside. They let you spend time with your family. When Im with my parents on the holidays, I feel really safe. I have fun on the holidays. We travel and visit relatives. Christmas, Easter, Halloween, and Thanksgiving are my favorite holidays. But all the holidays are great. (54 words in the essay, sorry).

Ashely wrote: The holidays are important to me because they are special days, like my dads birthday that is a special day for him. It is the same with a holiday and then everyone is now happy.

Kaitlyn, Age 8 wrote: Christmas means to me where your family and you gets together for Christmas and has fun and spends time together and being happy. Christmas is not about opening presents or eating candy its about spending time with your family. Thanksgiving means to me when gather at the family table and talk to your family about stuff important stuff or not important stuff but Thanksgiving is fun in all but sometimes it could be important too it is not just fun and games.

Ashley, Age 7 wrote: The holidays are when we celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. It is the time of the year when I relax with my family and eat a lot of nice food. I also get a lot of pretty things as presents. All these make me very happy.

Shoshana, Age 8 wrote: When I help put up our Christmas tree, it already makes me feel warm without a fireplace. It means a lot to me just to gather around that wonderful Christmas tree and sing carols. That feeling doesnt come from a present it comes from the heart. You can show that by showing love. I love my stocking full of goodies, my stocking is red and glittery. I go to bed dreaming of dancing reindeer in my head. At night before Mom goes to bed, she quickly and quietly puts out the cookies and milk for Santa. Ive never seen him in the house but I know he comes and when I dream, I hear his Ho Ho Ho, and Merry Christmas. This Christmas is going to be special, extra special. We have a new blessing, a brand new baby. His name is Moshea, he is coming this Christmas. We will have more love in the house this Christmas; we will have more reason to celebrate. My family is even bigger and more love to share and grow. This is better than any present that Santa brings; it is a special gift that God gave to us. I always ask Mom how he is doing. I for one love him very much. This Christmas will really be extra special to me.

Taylor, Age 8 wrote: Family, friends and friends snow on Christmas morning, music and teddy bears everywhere. Family, friends old and new. Snowflakes falling for children sledding and snowball music from in Church and school even the birds. Teddy bears of every shape and size for all.

Rachal, Age 10: I think the holidays mean spending time together with your family. Many children have relatives that do not see them much, so now is a time to see them. Some kids just focus on presents but I think the holidays mean more than that it means giving thanks for everything.

Zachary, Age 9 wrote: The holidays mean to me specialty and thankful. I would like having my family around. Opening gifts and eating turkey and pie, looking forward for grandpa and grandma to come. Playing games and seeing people I have not seen in a long time. It is more fun if it snows.
