Gallery: Lauren Jackson Sports Centre Renamed

Oct. 24, 2011

On Saturday, Lauren Jackson returned to her native Albury to see the Albury Sports Stadium renamed the Lauren Jackson Sports Centre in her honor. Local dignitaries, including AlburyCity mayor Alice Glachan, Basketball Australia head Larry Sengstock and Graham Annesley, the minister for sports and recreation in New South Wales, turned out to pay tribute to Jackson's remarkable career. After her own speech, Jackson unveiled the new signage identifying the complex.

Jackson told The Border Mail that having the sports facility in her hometown named for her was the greatest accolade of her career.

"Its No. 1 without even thinking about it," she said. "Its way in front, being able to share it with Albury in front of my family and friends makes it just awesome, nothing tops this."

Thanks to AlburyCity, check out a gallery of photos from the event.
