Season In Review: Kelly Mazzante

We take a look back at Kelly Mazzante�s 2005 season by the numbers.

1 Kelly made the first start of her WNBA career on August 12 vs. the New York Liberty. In that game, she posted four points in a career-best 27 minutes.

�I feel great out there,� she said just days after making her first start. �I think my excitement really just comes down to having the opportunity to play.�

2 In her second season, Kelly averaged 2.4 points for the Sting in 2005.
3 Kelly connected on a clutch three-pointer to help the Sting seal a 56-49 win over the Detroit Shock on August 6.

�I know I can make shots like that and know I can contribute,� she said after the game. �In that situation at the end of the game, I'm going to come in and try to pull it. I appreciate the confidence that coach has in me to put me in that situation.�

4Kelly missed four games of the 2005 season on the Injured List with right knee tendinitis.
5 Kelly grabbed a career-high five rebounds in the final game of the season on August 27 against Connecticut.
6Kelly averaged 6.0 points over the final four games of the season. During that stretch she shot .400 from the field and .385 from three-point range while also averaging 2.5 rebounds.
7 Kelly dished out seven assists during the 2005 season including a career-high tying two assists in the Sting�s 82-73 double overtime win against the Detroit Shock on August 6.
8Kelly tallied a season-high eight points in 13 minutes in Charlotte�s 78-66 win over the Liberty in New York.
9Kelly recorded nine steals during the season. On August 23, she posted a career-high two steals vs. Detroit.
10Kelly attempted 10 free throws connecting on eight of them to finish the season shooting .800 from the free throw line.
11 In 11 games this season Kelly hit one or more three-pointers. She concluded the 2005 season shooting .304 from behind the arc.

�I'm a shooter� she said. �I always think the next one is going to go in.�
