GM & HEAD COACH TRUDI LACEY SAYS...
On the Mercury's run in the first half:
They had some rest and were playing on fresh legs. Phoenix is hard to beat on their home floor. We knew it was going to be a tough game coming in.
On being outrebounded: It is something we are always working on. We banged pretty hard with L.A. last night. Phoenix is pretty big inside. They are tall and long, and a real tough opponent to beat in the second game of a back to back.
INSIDE THE LOCKER ROOM
GUARD JIA PERKINS
On her breakout performance: I think I am getting a little more confident out there. I am just trying to do whatever I can do to help my team out. I am just trying to find myself early in the game and contribute to the overall effort of the team.
On the rebounding deficit: I think that we let them get away from us going into half time. We can't just try to outscore teams. We need to put that defensive effort in as well. We let a lot of rebounds get away from us tonight.
FORWARD TANGELA SMITH
On the team's performance: We let them get control of the whole game. We didn't really show up to play. That run they had towards the end of the second half carried over into the second half.
On back to back games: Yes, we were tired, but you can't use that as an excuse. I am sure that they were tired too, and banged up as well. We just didn't capitalize on our strengths, and we let them get ahead of us. They had control of the game tonight.
