Gail Hook was named an assistant coach on April 21, 2003, completing the staff under first-year head coach Trudi Lacey.
Hook joins the Sting after serving as head coach of the Monarch High School girl�s basketball team in Louisville, Colorado since 1998. While at Monarch, Hook was honored as the 2003 Boulder County Coach of the Year, the 2002 and 2003 Front Range Coach of the Year and the 2001 State Farm Colorado Coach of the Year.
Hook also holds professional coaching experience with the American Basketball League�s Colorado Xplosion, where she worked as an assistant coach from 1996-1998. Hook has also served as a coach with the USA Junior National Team, the Women�s Basketball Coaches Association and as an assistant coach at Purdue University.
Hook started her career in coaching as a graduate assistant at the University of Northern Colorado in 1985. She also spent eight years as the head coach at Centaurus High School in Lafayette, Colorado, where she earned 1991 Colorado Coach of the Year and 1991 Skyline Conference Coach of the Year honors after leading her team to the 5A Girl�s Basketball State Championship.
Hook graduated from the University of Colorado with a bachelor�s degree in physical education. Hook was a member of the basketball team from 1979-1982 and is ranked among school leaders in points and rebounds. She also holds a Master�s Degree in Physical Education/Athletic Administration from the University of Northern Colorado.
