Buggsy's Homemade Ice Cream

One of Buggsy's favorite things is ice cream. Here is an easy recipe for her homemade ice cream using just a few simple things around the kitchen. You don't even need an ice cream maker!

What you will need :
  1. 4 cups of crushed ice
  2. 1/2 cup of rock salt (regular salt is okay in a pinch)
  3. 1 quart-sized Ziploc-type bag
  4. 1 sandwich-sized Ziploc-type bag (if you only have two small ones, that's okay too)
  5. 1 cup of milk
  6. 1 cup of heavy cream
  7. 2 tablespoons of sugar
  8. 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  9. Orange or Blue food coloring - Buggsy's favorite colors!
  10. Scissors and paper towels
Pour the milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla and 3 or 4 drops of food coloring into the small Ziploc bag. Seal the bag as tightly as you can, trying to let out as much air as you can. It's okay if there is some air inside, though.

Put half (two cups) of the crushed ice, half of the salt (1/4 cup), and the smaller bag you just created into the larger Ziploc bag. Gently squeeze out the air and seal it carefully.

Now to become an ice cream making machine! Squeeze the bag gently so you mix the contents in the smaller bag inside, and the cold ice rubs around it. You may want to wrap a towel around the bags so your fingers don't get cold. Continue squeezing and squooshing for 5 minutes.

Open the outside bag and pour out the salty water. Put in the rest of the crushed ice, and other half of the salt (1/4 cup). Seal the bag again and start squeezing and squooshing until the mixture in the smaller bag is ice creamy thick.

Remove the small bag from the ice, and dry the outside of the bag with your towel. Using scissors cut one of the bottom corners off of the small bag and squeeze your Buggsy ice cream into small bowls. Decorate if you wish, and enjoy!

Buggsy Cakes

Bugged with plain old cupcakes? Celebrating a win? Add some fun decorations and you'll score big with these sweet treats.

What You'll Need:
  1. 1 Box of cake mix (your favorite flavor)
  2. Water, oil and eggs as called for on the box
  3. 1 (12 oz.) Container of whipped fluffy white frosting or make your own butter cream frosting.
Cooking Instructions:
  1. Heat oven to 350F. Place paper baking cups in each of 24 regular-size muffin cups. Make cake mix as directed on the box for cupcakes, using water, oil and eggs.
  2. Bake as directed on box. Cool 10 minutes, remove from pan to wire rack. Cool completely for about 30 minutes.
Now It's Time to Decorate!

Gather all your marshmallows, candies, sprinkles, and goodies. There are many ways to create a great Buggsy cupcake. Here is just one suggestion:
  1. Place frosting into bowl and add orange food coloring to create your orange "fur" frosting. Don't have orange? You can always mix some red and yellow to create a great orange color. Remember to save some plain white frosting to create any other colors you may need. Out of food coloring? Orange sprinkles are great too!
  2. Place a handful of coconut in a plastic bag with a few drops of blue food coloring. Rub outside of the bag with your fingers to distribute. Repeat until color is the intensity you want. This will later be Buggsy's blue hair.
  3. Now we can create Buggsy's big bug eyes. On the table, firmly press a miniature chocolate chip (point side down) into a miniature marshmallow. Do this twice and then place your eyes on your cupcake.
  4. Cut up a thinly rolled fruit snack or sour gummy tape into two small, thin, one-inch strips. Place over the top of the eyes to become Buggsy's eyelids.
  5. Cut an orange slice or gum drop in half and place his nose centered under the eyes
  6. Now place your blue coconut hair at the top of her head. Is it starting to look like Buggsy?
  7. Red licorice makes for the perfect antennae. There are all different kinds of licorice so take your pick! Place licorice 3 in. long into the coconut at the top of the head and shape with your finger so that they curl towards you.
  8. Apply Buggsy's smile using a black licorice piece or draw it on with decorating gel.
Wow, your cupcake looks just like Buggsy!
